As 2024 marks the resurgence of RSS and Atom, I decided to update my rudimentary RSS tools from 2007 to make them contemporary and works under Python 3. The release v1.0 marks this step and allow everyone to use and improve the RSS toolset.

If you’re like me and your livelihood consists of either selling textual objects or using textual objects to sell services to a youth-obsessed sector (tech) then this is seriously bad news slate.com/human-interest/2024/…

My sister collected toy mice -- all kinds, from everywhere any of the family traveled. I inherited them after she passed away, and I would now like to find a home for them. If you or someone you know would like a hundred or more of these, ranging in size from as big as my thumb to a foot tall, please let me know. They meant a lot to her; I would like them to be loved and cared for.

@orbite if you have any interest in science-themed topics, maybe you'd be interested in making a portrait of a giant virus like mimivirus, for example? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimiviru…

I could use it in my science presentations, so it would get good use 😀

in reply to Frank Aylward

Until today, I thought the virus looked like a bug, god how wrong I was 😞

"In responding to Sagan, Thorne pointed out that venturing into a black hole, with the hope of finding a spatial shortcut to elsewhere, would not be a good idea. Astronauts would be stretched like taffy due to its intense gravitational field, bombarded by lethal energy released by infalling matter, and accelerated to a dangerous level like the most unsafe thrill ride imaginable."

Memories of a walk in nature, 11 years ago, in search of a Silent Sunday, a bit of peace in a tumultuous and turbulent period of my life that would soon come to an end, although I didn't know it yet.

This photo holds a profound significance, known only to me.

pearl gets a lot of shit but if i had a crush on a hot eight foot tall bbw and she left me for a guy named greg who plays ukelele and lives in a van and then fucked off forever, leaving me to raise their child, i would be tearing plaster off the walls with my teeth

Is NixOS Actually Incredible!?! #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/aMT7EIiC46k
in reply to Brodie Robertson

yes it is, I was astounded that nobody recommended it to me when I was going through Arch, Gentoo and the like when NixOS has all of their advantages and none of their PITA. At the same time if you know what you want it’s both easier to use and more stable than “easy” distros like Ubuntu that shit the bed as soon as you try to venture off the beaten path. 9/10

Hey #Socialcoop friends, a question: what would you think of us piloting a Personal Data Server for Bluesky under the co-op? No commitment, just an experiment.

I enjoy much of the bardcore music I've found online. This is "Running up that hill" by Kate Bush done in Early Middle English. Later Middle English you would have some hope of deciphering!

Fedora Linux Is An Experimental Distro And That's OK #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/x9qCqRTEVz0
in reply to Brodie Robertson

you said that Nvidia users with Wayland generally have hard times (I'm paraphrasing) unless they have newer cards, how new are you talking? I have a 2060 super, about 3+ years old iirc, I've never had Wayland issues with my Nvidia card, I've had screen capture problems (still have) but aside from trying to record the screen with OBS, my Wayland experience for everything I do is pretty much flawless imho.
in reply to MeaTLoTioN

@meatlotion I don't have a full line to test but it seems like 20 series onwards is where the biggest improvement are happening
in reply to Brodie Robertson

Fedora was the first distro I used when I switched to Linux and still is the one I use today. I have had few bugs that were not catastrophic, but overall it never felt like an unstable distro.
