As 2024 marks the resurgence of RSS and Atom, I decided to update my rudimentary RSS tools from 2007 to make them contemporary and works under Python 3. The release v1.0 marks this step and allow everyone to use and improve the RSS toolset.

As web platforms continue to deteriorate in quality, and with the diminishing visibility across various pseudo-social networks coupled with the decline of RSS culture, the emergence of new open-source, federated networks using ActivityPub (a glorified RSS format) seems particularly timely. I believe that reviving open-source tools developed in 2007 for handling RSS is increasingly relevant. Many of these new federated platforms are revitalizing RSS, which is a trend that deserves encouragement and support.

My sister collected toy mice -- all kinds, from everywhere any of the family traveled. I inherited them after she passed away, and I would now like to find a home for them. The student wrote a polite email to the paper’s first author, Almas Heshmati, a professor of economics at Jönköping University in Sweden, asking how he dealt with the missing data. In email correspondence seen by Retraction Watch and a follow-up Zoom call, Heshmati told the student he had used Excel’s autofill function to mend the data. He had marked anywhere from two to four observations before or after the missing values and dragged the selected cells down or up, depending on the case. The program then filled in the blanks. If the new numbers turned negative, Heshmati replaced them with the last positive value Excel had spit out.

yes it is, I was astounded that nobody recommended it to me when I was going through Arch, Gentoo and the like when NixOS has all of their advantages and none of their PITA. At the same time if you know what you want it’s both easier to use and more stable than “easy” distros like Ubuntu that shit the bed as soon as you try to venture off the beaten path. 9/10

you said that Nvidia users with Wayland generally have hard times (I'm paraphrasing) unless they have newer cards, how new are you talking? I have a 2060 super, about 3+ years old iirc, I've never had Wayland issues with my Nvidia card, I've had screen capture problems (still have) but aside from trying to record the screen with OBS, my Wayland experience for everything I do is pretty much flawless imho.

Fedora was the first distro I used when I switched to Linux and still is the one I use today. I have had few bugs that were not catastrophic, but overall it never felt like an unstable distro.
