The original peoples of Turtle Island went through their own stages of collective political growth, and their systems matured at different rates across the continent.
The European peoples had a need to escape their own oppressive cultures. Sadly, they did not look deeply enough into what values and outlooks were the core of their troubles, and thereby brought their problems with them. Because they advanced technologically faster than they grew in wisdom, they had the means to simply become the people they sought to escape.
