🕺 New Changelog & Friends!

Red Hat’s decision to lock down RHEL sources behind a subscription paywall was met with much ire and opened opportunity for Oracle to get a smack in and SUSE to announce a fork with $10 million behind it 🥊

Few RHEL community members have been as publicly irate as @geerlingguy, so we invited him on the show to discuss 💬

Dusty stripes 💨

Strong winds blew across Namibia, carrying bands of dust out to the Atlantic Ocean.

@nasa’s Aqua satellite captured the pattern, which is not unusual for this time of year when winds rush down from the interior highlands. go.nasa.gov/3PVwOee

“What’s in a kiss? Nothing less than the very essence of what it is to be human”

Preparing for an interview this morning by re-reading this article I wrote exactly 8 years ago. I adore #history & it’s a good one.

what an insightful article. Hate to say it but I agree with Darwin too on this one.
Also l liked how you have acknowledged and criticised the racist descriptions of old anthropologist.

Given the Fediverse and the Internet, there are two embeddings. One you can embed the Fediverse in the Internet by using something as a webapp. Two, you can embed the Internet into the Fediverse by using meta tags such as described here and Page objects.

This proves that the Internet and Fediverse are the same thing. Using different words is just confusing. I'm going back to eat my coffee cup and drink from my donut.

Notice how every time there's a labor strike, you see countless articles with headlines like "UPS Strike Could Cost U.S. Economy Billions—Here’s How It Would Impact Consumers" and not by the accurate headline of "UPS's Executive's Greed Could Cost US Economy Billions".

I too often read "The planet is dying! 😱"

It is not. The planet is adapting to what we're doing. There will always be a rich ecosystem on our planet.

But that ecosystem will adapt to the point where we no longer have a place in it.

No, the planet is not dying. We are.

in reply to Der @KleineMaulwurf

Please understand that this planet is much more powerful than we will ever be. In geohistoric scale, we are a flyspeck. Thinking that we would be able to extinguish the life on this planet is rather arrogant. No, not even with nukes. All we will accomplish is our own extinction.
in reply to Der @KleineMaulwurf

BY THE WAY ITS BEEN OVER A CENT...
*coughs*
By the way, it has been over a century, folks.

Want to develop #opensource apps for Nextcloud?

We've got new tutorials on:

- Developing a complete app
- Automated testing
- Troubleshooting techniques

in reply to Nextcloud 📱☁️💻

Yes, I want to write an app. But I've been through the tutorials before and they're really lacking. There's no explanation from a conceptual level of the parts and pieces. Sure, I can paste in code blocks, but that doesn't give me an understanding of what is happening and why.

  • You took on adult duties way too early in life.

Ayup. Dad's alcoholism dogged most of my high school years. At one point, Mom moved all of the booze from the wet bar into my closet (though it turned out Dad had several bottles stashed in his workbench in the garage).

WOW! I'm in tears. Brilliant speech by Fran Drescher. Everyone should watch it.

Yes. This is serious and it's way bigger than this group.... Greed Victimization! Widespread! Worldwide!

Keep in mind that she's an actress 😉 but yeah, I'm wiping an eye here too. It's gonna be a hot labor summer in the US and it's about galblanged time.

That reminds me—I need to print a Teamsters/UPS sign to hang on my front door.

in reply to Harry McCracken

This article (and post) make it sound like rate limits are something new. They’re not.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron Yeah, the news wasn’t the rate limits. It was the rate limits that only allowed users to view the site for 10 minutes per day.
