Super proud of the work my team and I did for this release. I personally mostly worked on performance, scaling and fixing some long standing technical debt issues. I hope you will enjoy it 😀

RE: fosstodon.org/@hmiron/11609337…

Happy to hear so many of you enjoy Nextcloud Hub 26 Winter and see the effort put by our team and contributors into performance and maintenance!

Watched the whole Nextcloud 26 video and I can really appreciate that most of their effort went into stability, security and overall maintenance instead of big splashy features.

This really grows the confidence I have in the platform.

Unfortunately, if you have some apps enabled in your Nextcloud it might become summer before the last app will be compatible and you can enjoy the benefits of the Winter Hub.

I'm always a little uncomfortable about this issue. The UK used to be covered by woodland but most of them have been cleared over the last centuries leaving farmland and a biodiversity desert.

Malaysia where I am at the moment went through mass clearances for rubber production and now they are mostly cleared along with more rainforest for oil palms.

I suspect the alternative would be clearance for other forms of agriculture which is probably even worse.

Oh dear! Remember Laibach @Andrew Pam?

This sounds like some hilariously off European Song Contest song. You may even recognise some of the dance clips!

Brilliant. And I love that the whole MV is vertical.

Storytelling, World Building, and Establishing a Better United States

I know things seem dark right now, but creators have the means to point people in the right direction, so that we can pass through the challenges we now face in the US and out the other side to a better world. And I do mean world, not just the United States.

We have to have clear and hopeful dreams for what can be. The clearer our dreams, the faster our changes can come into being

I am calling upon our patriot storytellers to join me for a talk on Hopecore worldbuilding. What would a United States worth living in look and feel like? What would we need to do to make it a reality? What national and cultural changes would we need to pursue? And how do we build these ideas into stories that inspire?

This is an extension of my Hopecore talk, but the focus is solely on world building.

I would love to have you join us! You can sign up here: mobilize.us/indivisible/event/…

Thanks for checking this out!

Fun fact to keep you awake tonight: Just had a chat with an atmospheric chemist and the best comparison she could come up with for the pollution that would result from burning up 1 million "AI datacenter" satellites in Earth's atmosphere is a nuclear war.

A few weeks of X’s algorithm can make you more right-wing – and it doesn’t wear off quickly

A new study published today in Nature has found that X’s algorithm – the hidden system or “recipe” that governs which posts appear in your feed and in which order – shifts users’ political opinions in a more conservative direction.

Led by Germain Gauthier from Bocconi University in Italy, it is a rare, real-world randomised experimental study on a major social media platform. And it builds on a growing body of research that shows how these platforms can shape people’s political attitudes...

it's kind of funny how many people, myself included, just never use the game's official terminology and instead refer to the icons it uses.

there's a skill in state of decay 2 called "craftsmanship". the icon is of a hammer. i refer to it as "the hammer". unfortunately none of my current survivors have the hammer so i need to find a hammer book

Wrote a blog post, instead of another GitLab Snippet, on upgrading our two #Tor relays to use the new Happy Families feature that was released yesterday in Tor 0.4.9.5. All in all, it was extremely uncomplicated to set up, and maybe that can encourage more people to try it out sooner rather than later! 😎

The post assumes some likely #Debian and #Ubuntu specifics, but most should apply to other distributions as well. Blog post at ahf.me/blog/2026/02/13/upgradi…

in reply to Alexander Hansen Færøy

Awesome to see more operators upgrading to #Tor 0.4.9.5, but also to see the number of Happy Families increasing! Over the weekend, the following has happened:

- We have gone from 185 to 952 unique relays uploading Happy Families keys. Of those, 104 are Happy Families only.

- Of the Directory Authorities, Babelmoo and Bastet joined Moria1 in running 0.4.9. We need consensus method 35 for HF to show up in microdescriptors.

Progress on all fronts 😎

I have been trying the #Konqueror web browser for a while (from #KDE @kde). It works pretty well so far. However, #Nextcloud @nextcloud complains it is not a supported browser each time I log in. I ignore the warning because I haven't seen issues so far.
in reply to Daniel Hernández

for some browsers, it is just as a warning that some features might not work as expected. Happy it works well for you!
