Opera GX is finally available on Linux, but should you bother installing it? 🤔

Don't bother. It is an injustice and should be eliminated rather than promoted. Use LibreWolf, Tor Browser, Mullvad Browser, Iceweasel/IceCat, or at very very least, Firefox or Chromium (not Chrome).

experiment exploring #MandelbrotSet #fractals #MathArt adding layers of cauliflowers to mini mandelbrots by choosing where to zoom

-1.749684816504354894259770797352982820550801324341230434823606

zoom of the second one with 8 layers is about 1e44, didn't save the zoom level of the first (with 3 layers)

I think I can generalize the way I found them (I constructed specific external angles expressed as periodic binary exansions, and traced their external rays towards the minibrots)

(apologies for the poor image quality)

Please send this to the European Committy!

many never used a roller or trackball instead of a mouse. Always in place when you need it you find it blindly. Some have more buttons to be defined for shortcuts. All CAD and 3D construction programs use this. Also versatile gaming controllers are between classic style and track balls. No need for just only the mouse

I genuinely love these photos—they’re incredibly eye-catching. I’m interested in purchasing five as digital copies.

Kindly message me directly if this is something you’d consider.

Look, the problem of Electron apps could be solved by having an Electron runtime environment and Electron development kit that runs Electron apps as zip files instead. Of the current system where every Electron app I use is running its own instance of Chromium just to run a website, maybe this functionality can be integrated into chromium directly.

We had a new sail made and cut the old one into panels, a few were bad, some were good, we gave some away to friends on other boats, and we'll reuse some for various projects.

I needed a liner for my backpack[1], and dacron is the perfect material for that!

I love reusing the parts with character for art projects:grommets, sail numbers, stitched patches, and um, rust-, mud-, mold-, and blood-stains. Dacron is such tough stuff even when its been too beat up sail on. That liner is brilliant.

I implemented @neauoire@merveilles.town 's Rejoice, in Perl for some reason 😀

This was attempt like 3? I vaguely remember reading a Moore quote about "writing, rewriting, and rewriting again". I follow that advice religiously

I absolutely hate writing parsers, and yet invariably end up having to write a parser. This is probably the best one I've done but its still a bit of a mess!

The only difference I can spot between my implementation and the UXN one is that mine can't differentiate between [x x x] and x^3 (it always uses the latter). This means that things like [ .x .x .x ] will only print a single x (I'm not sure what the intended behaviour is for that case anyway tbh?)

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

Ah yeah that makes sense, it feels a lot more intuitive that way

Ooh I didn't even think about optimisations. Do you mean that x^10 'y/x would become y^10/x^10? (i.e., from an anonymous label draining x, to a fraction producing y^10)

Its crazy that "optimising a program" could just be "simplifying fractions"

in reply to pat

yeah, instead of looping 10 times, you get how many times the num fits in the den, and apply it once 😀 Reduces cycles a LOT!

So, @exquisitecorp sent me this graphic design book A Co-Program For Graphic Design, in it were a few pages about Hilbert, Peano, and briefly mentioning Formulario Mathematico, a book written in Giuseppe's own simplified Latin. His work has been on my mind lately as I try to design a kind of standard notation to use across all my notes hoping to standardize multiple topic-specific notations into just one style.

Regardless, as I was clumsily trailing Peano's footsteps, I came across this video[1], giving me the idea to try and translate some of the Rejoice examples into Peano's Latino Sine Flexione, as a kind of.. homage? Zoom forward a few days, a hundred hours of Latin youtube, nearly breaking Arch installing Latin dictionaries, I might have gone beyond just translating examples..

Since #GIT was designed, among other things, to manage #Linux development, that’s actually an indirect compliment to the Linux-Creator too!
😊
Still, I prefer #Mercurial.

Still, I prefer #Fossil fossil-scm.org and fossil-scm.org/home/doc/trunk/…

Git provides file versioning services, whereas Fossil adds an integrated wiki, ticketing & bug tracking, embedded documentation, tech notes, a forum, and a chat, all within a single nicely-designed web UI, protected by an access control system. These capabilities are available for Git as 3rd-party add-ons, but with Fossil they are integrated to the point that it approximates "GitHub-in-a-box."
