Wrote a blog post, instead of another GitLab Snippet, on upgrading our two #Tor relays to use the new Happy Families feature that was released yesterday in Tor 0.4.9.5. All in all, it was extremely uncomplicated to set up, and maybe that can encourage more people to try it out sooner rather than later! 😎
The post assumes some likely #Debian and #Ubuntu specifics, but most should apply to other distributions as well. Blog post at ahf.me/blog/2026/02/13/upgradi…

Why is Debian Called the Universal Operating System, Again?
Debian's official tagline is "Universal Operating System". It's more than just a tagline: it's a deeper concept that underpins the very nature of Debian as a project.Roland Taylor (It's FOSS)
#debian . Never used it as a daily driver. But as the ultimate failsafe, reliable rocksolid, no frills distro it has served me on countless projects.
Other distro appeal to me but appeal at a certain point wears off.
If I need to use a distro for the rest of my life, let it be without appeal, but instead bulletproof.
Debian needs your help on this. 👨💻

(First of all I think 4 years old is too early to get contact with computers, even with screens in general)
My 11 years old kid has local access (no web) to tons of material about science, drawing, programming... And he is always discovering new secrets or option there.
For sure raspberry pi is a good platform for scratch, laby, colobot... Using #debian 😀

Whilst it's not been forever regarding how long I've been using #Linux, I've used #Debian for more than 10 years now, perhaps as many as 15.
So, my answer is simple. #Debian
I always prefer to run #Stable releases, so I am presently on #Bookworm and will in-line upgrade to #Trixie when 13.1 is released, just as I've done for perhaps the last 3 or 4 major releases.
