30,000 PCs are moving from Microsoft Office to #LibreOffice in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. At the recent Univention Summit 2025, we met the people handling the migration: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2025/02/05/libreoffice-at-the-univention-summit-2025/ #foss #opensource #freesoftware

currently trying #raspbian with some Scratch, Python & #arduino projects on the horizon on my free time, with the objective to introduce all of it to my kids.

Still really satisfied with #linuxmint on my old laptop, I use mainly #libreoffice for my uni homeworks.

Maybe I’ll come back to #manjaro on my newest one with double booting cause it’s fun messing around. Also interested in #steamos. It’s going to be a busy year!

1st: Have a look at cross-platform applications that are available on the current platform and Linux, and see if they are good for you (e.g. #LibreOffice, #Zotero, #Firefox, #Thunderbird, #Qoppa #PDFStudio, ...)

2nd: Is your computer/notebook and your printer etc. well supported by #Linux? Check the internet for it.

3rd: After switching: Look first for software in the distribution repositories and not on the websites of the projects. Install it from the distribution if available.

The second release candidate of #LibreOffice 24.2 is now available! This will be our next major update, with a new "year.month" version scheme – so it'll arrive in February 2024. And it has a bunch of new features too, which you can help to test: https://qa.blog.documentfoundation.org/2024/01/16/libreoffice-24-2-rc2-is-available-for-testing/ #foss #opensource
