I just upgraded to Nextcloud 30. I love the new more compact UI and look forward to all the other improvements. Thanks, amazing @nextcloud!

Exciting. I've successfully set up AIO yesterday. I'm surprised by the low memory usage even during video calls.

But I feel bad when I basic functionalities like extracting or compressing a file still missing.

So I wrote this little component. If the JS for the component didn’t load for some reason, the form will work normally based on submit. If the custom element loads, though, it will watch for change events on the form, and sync the entity in the current context based on the context name (so, the current PC in this case) through fetch() and preventDefault on the submit event since we’re syncing on every change instead.

No shadow DOM, fully progressively enhanced, and works off my generic entity system so any entity will just work. 😎

Q: Has the ActivityPub Vocab been updated since May 2017?

w3.org/TR/activitystreams-voca…

We know @Gargron does not support the LISTEN verb. Hope they update their support.

We are testing the READ & ARTICLE verbs for blogs, the ANNOUNCE verb for new episodes and the BUY verb for payments like tickets or merch.

I'm thrilled to announce, especially on the occasion of the #Fediforum, that @medlab is launching an Open Social Incubator.

Our mission is to support a cohort of community builders who could use extra support in getting to know and learning to use open social tools.

Participants will receive $3,500, hands-on support, and a peer community.

Please spread the word! Learn more here: colorado.edu/lab/medlab/2024/0…

Cyberpunk 2077 gets AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 with Frame Generation gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/cybe…

#Cyberpunk2077 #AMDFSR

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I tested it during yesterday on Linux. FSR3 is actually slower for low FPS scenarios (raytracing 30fps) but amazing for +60fps scenarios.

Much better resolution and frametimes. The frame generation option feels lile butter.

Also, the dynamic resoluton option of FSR3 doesn't impact frametimes negatively anymore like FSR2. Which is amazing.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I tested it yesterday. Actually the current state of Cyberpunk degraded since I tested it during Fedora 39, early 40 times. I have rtx4090 on nvidia proprietary driver, since they release explicit sync and fixed wayland bugs, they dropped in performance. I was previously able to get 59,87 average fps targeting 60 with 4k dlss quality and rt psycho, now it dropped to average 50 with the latest proton-ge. Running on wine-ge 8-26 gives about 55 average, and no way to hit 60.

"The machine also dealt with its human interlocutors in polite and empathetic terms, in contrast to the scorn sometimes heaped on conspiracy theorists in real life."

Fascinating (but pay-walled) article on how chat #AI can influence people away from conspiracy beliefs. Humans are messy and subjective. Is an opaque summary machine more reliable and more engaging when it comes to discerning truths?

interesting idea. Like an automatic tl;dr that just says 'article makes unreliable claim that aliens have replaced humans' or something. It would be nice if there was some potential in this.

#PPOD: This stunning photograph captures the most violent moment during an eruption of the Calbuco volcano in Chile. Volcanic lightning occurs in the plumes of eruptions when volcanic ash particles collide, generating static electricity. Additionally, water vapor in the plume condenses and freezes as it rises, adding ice to the mix. And voila! The eventual electrical discharge causes lightning. Every company is going to use AI, both traditional machine learning or generative AI. Articles decrying this is like articles complaining about companies making products in factories with machines instead of by hand.
