Our home is empty without her. It feels like we're living in a void. Minime was with us only for 3.5 months, and yet, she brought us something we never had: the joy of a child. I can't believe she was taken from us so soon. When I rescued her, it felt like fate. That she's going to heal us from a life of loneliness, be with us for a long time. And yet she was gone so soon? It makes no sense. It's not fair. I freaking hate existence right now. To exist is to suffer.

A final touch on a somewhat damaged cake, i need to learn how to take it out properly out of its mold, there's apparently a technique to it.

But the velour effect distracts wonderfully from the flaws ^^ 😮‍💨🎂

deleted my Google account recently and installed E os on my phone, which is de-Googled. I had a somewhat popular Youtube account but I got tired of serving capricious black box algos and I hate ads. I've used Protonmail since forever so that was simple. I use a paper calendar and live stream to my own site with Owncast. Its amazing how much time and personal data you give these services when you think about it.

Already what im doing actually. Was super easy to setup and getting SSL for free is nice. I found an nginx reverse proxy docker which I probably could have used instead, but I don't feel like changing now that I already got it up and running.

@Friendica Support Why is it (bug or feature 😉 ) that I frequently have a difference in the number of comments indicated by the symbol and the text version:

Screenshot of a Friendica post. The speech bubble symbol show 46 comments, but the expand text tells "show 116" comments. This is encircled in red. Likewise, the double arrow symbol indicates 2 shares will the text in accordance also reads "2 Menschen teilen dies erneut. This is encircled in green.

The bubble symbol tells me 46 comments, but the expand text "116 comments". I would expect the same numbers here just like it is the case for reshared count?

I first thought my instance would not know the other comments, but since the higher number is the total amount of actual comments which are SHOWN, this theory seems wrong 😀

in reply to Der Marek

A quick experiment suggests that the 46 is the number of direct replies to the original post, while the 116 is the total number of comments in the thread, including replies to other replies.
in reply to Der Marek

Ahh, ohh, 46 people left 116 replies in total, I see! Thank You!
in reply to Der Marek

No. 46 people replied directly. The other replies are replies to replies.
in reply to Der Marek

@Der Marek Not necessarily people. 46 is the number of comments replying directly to the top-level post. Then there are 70 additional comments at the second hierarchical level and up.

I'm adjusting my diet for best blood test results. For some reason, fried food and potatoes make my blood tests appear I'm malnourished. Low protein, calcium, low liver enzymes, high inflammation, anemia, etc... I can still pass a hazmat physical, but I can tell I'm not at my peak.

No. E-mail and Mastodon are both federated though, so they have that in common.

@moribundmurdoch I agree, but there was a car in front of it that I wanted to avoid getting in the shot so I aimed a bit higher.

I was thinking about Photoshop (which I don't pay for anymore— that humbug is expensive). It's a nice photo regardless. I'm so used to the fake, AI-generated beauty, not the real deal. This is a real photo with real circumstances, lol. @moribundmurdoch@mastodon.online

For anyone wondering why the Nazis on Twitter, Meta, and the US State are having a meltdown today it's because China dropped about a half dozen brand new AI models that outperform anything ChatGPT/Grok/Claude/Llama can do, take a fraction of the time and money to create and upkeep, and made them all open source, ruining the AI market.

Now that SteamOS is built up, and there's clearly a market there, I hope Valve take another shot at it.

"Raking Light", Drakensberg 2024. We had risen in the dark to make the short but steep walk up to this view point on our final morning of a 75km traverse of the berg, and were greeted to views with such depth and light of a wonderful quality. The winds were strong but nothing could distract from the immensity of our surroundings.
