They will no longer go off the chart if you pick different dates to compare and will auto-position wherever is best.

And they say Linux is "impossibly hard to dev to", because we have "unmanageable fragmentation, killing compatibility" and the occasional "how am I to build for so many targets?"

I'm testing it with my boards and, so far, it's great. Nothing super revolutionary, but definitely speeds things up.

Flatpak and KDE apps don't follow the rules that I set for my GTK apps, even simple stuff like window controls on the left. If I install a KDE app it needs to drag in half of the available KDE libraries so I don't use them even if they're better. So my choice is use my preferred gnome and lose apps or use KDE which I don't like.

this is about the Extension Manager flatpak, a very well known app that comes preinstalled in many distros already. dc is a semi-standard linux/unix RPN calculator. Many years ago, inspired by a code golf challenge, I performed an exhaustive search of digitless dc programs using the character set ~^-/*+|ABCDdEFIinOorvz to find all integers up to 1,000,000. emergent.unpythonic.net/015251…

So as we roll towards 2026 I checked my list to find the shortest digitless dc program that produces the output 2026: CiDCAn

This program sets the input radix to "C" (12) then inputs the non-canonical base-13 number DCA (= 13 * 12**2 + 12 * 12 + 10), and finally prints it.

Non-canonical base 12 numbers are used in several upcoming years:

2026 CiDCAn
2027 CiDCBn
2028 CiDCCn
2029 CiDCDn
2030 CiDCEn
2031 CiDCFn
2038 CiDDAn
The current year (2025) can't be written in the same manner, because it would use the digit 9. It is still a 6-character program though: CF F*n. This multiplies the non-canonical base-10 number CF (135) by the non-canonica base10- number F (15).

BINGO!!!

A wage for housework? India's sweeping experiment in paying women

In a village in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, a woman receives a small but steady sum each month - not wages, for she has no formal job, but an unconditional cash transfer from the government.

Premila Bhalavi says the money covers medicines, vegetables and her son's school fees. The sum, 1,500 rupees ($16: £12), may be small, but its effect - predictable income, a sense of control and a taste of independence - is anything but.

Her story is increasingly common. Across India, 118 million adult women in 12 states now receive unconditional cash transfers from their governments, making India the site of one of the world's largest and least-studied social-policy experiments.

Long accustomed to subsidising grain, fuel and rural jobs, India has stumbled into something more radical: paying adult women simply because they keep households running, bear the burden of unpaid care and form an electorate too large to ignore.

Hold… I need a cup of coffee to see this.

Ok, I like the idea. I liked webrings on their day and I remember well why they failed. Some people just removed the core to get the trafic just for themselves.

I think Stumbleupon was better. I would rather recreate that concept, at least now.

Progress in the (tech) art departament.

Rendered with 4xMSAA (no TAA etc.).

I found that Screen-Space Roughness limiter can introduce blocky artifacts. I suppose it's because derivatives work in quads (4 pixel groups).

It's probably content-specific but the effect is ON by default, and so you might have had stairsteppy artifacts and not known where do they come from.

This is Godot 4.5.1 stable on Arch Linux. Haven't tested in 4.6 beta yet.
