I tried to read joinmastodon.org just now, and got held up by the columnar layout. Best to avoid columns. (Also, side-scrolling is the worst!)
Not sure where to direct this, maybe @Gargron ?

Yes, I'm using Privacy Browser from F-Droid, which has Javascript off by default.
It should be possible to get an adaptive layout using just CSS, without the Javascript dependency. Generally that means the layout won't be the same on all devices, and the content is legible for everyone.
(Sorry, I don't mean to be #Techsplaining; I'm somewhat averse to Javascript...)

I remember sending a letter to JPL, just some school kid from the midwest asking a few schoolkid questions.
I got back a very nice personal letter and a gloriously beautiful press kit!
I wish I still had that...

Ah, yes, a reply guy explaining to me about why Fedified "isn't bad".
Apparently *anyone* can create an account on the Fediverse. That's ostensibly so problematic that we must centralize that feature -- with Google Forms no less.
And although account verification already exists, we need a self-appointed gatekeeper to authenticate those badges!
@Gargron The problem is that they're trying to establish a centralized authority for account verification.
And yeah, nobody is forced to trust those links -- and I won't.

Jane Caro passed this along. I agree with her when she calls this a "war against women".
A night of ‘hell’: abortion activists on their ‘inhumane’ detention in DC
"...Two of the women were put together in a cell measuring about four by six feet, including the metal bed frame and toilet. The beds had no mattresses, and a bright overhead light remained on all night, making sleep impossible. Their legs are still streaked with dark bruises from sitting on the two-inch metal lip on the side of the bed. Temperatures hovered around 90F (32C) and there was little water or food. Their repeated requests to contact lawyers went unanswered, they said.
"It was “surreal – just torture, really”, Paterson said, calling it a night of “hell”."
