Victoria 3 is another clear hit for Paradox hitting half a million sales gamingonlinux.com/2022/12/vict… #Linux #LinuxGaming
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Vic3 is definitely on my wishlist, but I have to play CK3 first... its been on my backlog for a while now
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

From my point of view, Paradox interactive is one of my top game producers 😀

I have been playing Europa Universalis IV for so many hours for so many years and it is still developed, supported, and extended by DLC ( the main game was released in 2013). Similarly, I have been playing other games such as Crusader Kings II and III, Hearts of Iron 2-4 (I skipped the third part) or now Victoria III.

But I dont have so much free time now...😁

I have recently ordered a dock and so far have not received any spam - I do run a PiHole and have uBlock though.

I'm seeing more #PlantScience journals joining Mastodon, so I started a list. Not completely sure how lists work here (sorry #newbie) but please help me add journals to this list! scholar.social/lists/636 @PlantTeaching
in reply to PlantTeaching

@PlantTeaching ah yes I see your list on the big list of lists. It was an important step in it's early creation that we added opt-in language to there.

I think lists are great for discovery. There is also the classic trunk lists:

My year in music
Been listening my canon a lot. Time for more new stuff.

My year in music
I'm not sure I have accepted that my last.fm archive is going to stagnate. I'm going to get some Pine Buds to listen to music on my phone and maybe that will encourage me to look for ways to scrobble again.

Great article from @dajb about governance on Mastodon servers. Like social.coop, Friend Camp has started using Loomio to make group consensus decisions around things like non-obvious defederation, and it's working out really well.

dougbelshaw.com/blog/2022/11/2…

I recommend instance admins look into Loomio. Once we have used it a bit more on Friend Camp I am going to post a how-to and best practices for small servers.

TESS, this sweet little spacecraft, has exoplanet in its very name -- Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite. So far, it's discovered more than 270 planets and more than 6,000 planet candidates. We love TESS💜

and thanks to TESS, I got to observe a transit of an exoplanet from my backyard with a little #Unistellar #eVscope - absolutely thrilling. So much I made a gif of the event and made it my animated profile image!

5,211!
That's how many planets beyond our solar system that we've confirmed so far.
Some are so blasted by their stars that surfaces are covered in lava; others may have jewels floating in winds. Each one is wonder!

Mastadon is a great alternative and yet a friend of mine (Who claims he loves Linux and wants to see it get better but won't do ANYTHING to help) says that independant social media is flawed. So does the majority of people. Sad since he is a CS Student.

My collection is growing! 🪨 I’ve now got my 15th rock core: a nice piece of sandstone.

Up next, I’m heading back to a nearby dune to break out a new tool – my regolith collection bit – for gathering loose, sandy material. #SamplingMars continues…

Mars is near its closest point to Earth in its orbit. It's a good time to watch for the planet rising as a bright, reddish "star" in the east after sunset. See the latest in Mars exploration at mars.nasa.gov

A pair of views of a pair of (merging) galaxies? Yes, please!

Hubble and @NASAWebb have both observed the galactic pair II ZW 96 in different wavelengths of light.

You can learn more about these views here: go.nasa.gov/3GZrPo8
#Hubble

In Hubble’s visible-light view from 2008, the starburst systems that have formed between the two galactic cores with their older stars are clearly seen.

However, Webb’s view showcases the brightness of the star-forming regions which have been activated by this merger, which are particularly luminous in infrared light, which Webb observes.

I once accidently brought fireworks (explosives) on a trip. They were tucked in a side pocket and I didn't notice them until I was unpacking at my destination.

Had a broken #Spectrum #Microdrive, but I was able to repurpose it for my #chipmusic setup!

Anyone using a lot of USB-powered #audio equipment knows how annoying ground loops can be. With this I've got 5x stereo isolators in a relatively small box.

in reply to Brett Edmond Carlock

@Brett_E_Carlock

If you want to get super fancy you can use an op-amp to create a 'virtual ground'. Instead of using the 5V and USB ground, you'd use the virtual ground as the ground for your circuit.
