Wow! What a close-up 🤩 It also kinda looks like something small in close-up.

@foolishowl did you see loomio.com/d/AZcJK6y2/discussi… ?

I guess the vote needs to be restarted along the lines of what is in the wiki like @ntnsndr pointed out?

in reply to Ed Summers

I'm at a total loss how to reduce a range of values to a binary up-or-down vote. I'd been asking for advice on how to do this for weeks.
in reply to FoolishOwl

I know you have 😞

I wonder if this would work:

1) defederate from threads: docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/mo…
2) do nothing
3) block

in reply to Ed Summers

yes. I think a ranked choice vote is great for a sense check, but a proposal for action needs to have a single, clear, proposal for action to be binding.
in reply to Ed Summers

This works, right? Current sentiment (26% voting) suggests there's +50% for defederation. #socialcoop #threads
in reply to richjensen

@richjensen I am not sure how to interpret the point distribution and whether it really constitutes a majority, though it does seem clear there is strong support for defederation.
in reply to Nathan Schneider

I read choice items #1 and #2 as an unambiguous preference for 'defederate now' . #3 and #4 are 'wait and see'. I haven't done a ranked choice analysis, just counting the topline. It's true discussion emerged during the vote as to whether defederate might = LIMIT not SUSPEND. It's possible some folks have expressed a choice for 'defederation' when their intention was only to LIMIT. I support another YES/NO vote clearly calling for a 'suspend' action under the rules.

in reply to Bread and Circuses

I like this quote:

“The problem is that electric cars are popular with politicians precisely because they provide an excuse to avoid doing harder things, like rebuilding our cities, or changing the habits of lifetimes. Persuading people to switch from their old gasoline car to a shiny Tesla is much easier than persuading them that they can live without a car. Hence governments are pushing electric cars, often with incentives that make no sense.” - Daniel Knowles, author of Carmageddon

make a community around the G13 and find people who wanna make plugins for it!
in reply to Stellar 🇫🇷

I still use my G13 on Linux as my primary input device for gaming. It just lives there on my desk for when I'm ready to play!

I have to manage my game configs in text files, but I personally don't hate that. Obviously I can see how that would be an issue for some. I have thought about developing a UI for it, but I'll probably never do it.

This is a picture of the blackboard at the office of my mentor, the late Ned Seeman. If we had the superpower to freeze instances of the birth of highly original ideas, I imagine we would see something like this. Looks like a Cy Twombly painting. Each one of those drawings was a milestone in the establishment DNA nanotechnology field. I had professors come to me and say that they put Ned's papers in their office just to get inspired when they were feeling a bit low. That's how original he was.

#Tecnoafecciones Aportemos nuestros granitos de arena 🙌🌿

¿Qué podemos hacer? Van algunas ideas👇

✅ Reducir la compra de dispositivos. Pensemos...

in reply to Sursiendo

in reply to Sursiendo

in reply to John Gruber

I feel like the problem is the tracking, rather than them needing to disclose it. Nobody is forcing them to include third party analytics!
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron looks like John isn't really addressing real issues, he just likes to rant about EU politics and spill the ~bad takes~!
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@gargron These cookie banners aren't even compliant with the law anyway.

Like you said, just don't include third-party analytics and you don't need any banners. You'd think somebody who peddles Apple would be in favour of that!

in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron He’s not looking for a good faith discussion - it’s just bad faith, jingoistic, posting.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron that’s exactly the point. They wouldn’t even need to get rid of third party analytics, using something like Plausible (which is orders of magnitude better than Google Analytics btw) would be enough to get rid of that awful dialog.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron don’t bother, @gruber has been in teenager troll mode for a few weeks now. That is something that it might work in the US, like sending us to the library, etc. it’s ludicrous.

River City Girls before I realised it's a decendant of Renegade that subverts the usual 'rescue the girlfriend' plot of beatemups, has a super cool soundtrack and deep gameplay. Plus, it's funny.

I expected NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered to be worse than the original one, but it turned out to be one of my faves just like the original one.

Here is my NON-Scientific results of #Threads vs #mastondon reach.

My Mastodon account has 630+ Followers, my Threads one has 520+.

Asked both sets to Boost/Repost/Like/Favourite and comment.

Almost ZERO engagement/reach on Threads and massive reach on Mastodon.

I suspected Mastodon would easily win but not by this much.
