in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

why on earth would they prevent Linux users from downloading it? A lpt of the times running games with #proton works even better than the nativr version (point and case: #lastepoch)
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

This is normal. If Proton allows the developer to focus on maintaining a single version that works well in several operative systems, why disperse efforts in several half maintained versions.

I don't know about this particular game, but I have more than once forced the Proton version over the native one, because it worked better.

People *really* do their best to be intentionally stupid don't they?

I see there's some sort of "how's Linux now" discourse going around Mastodon and so I'll give my brief summary:

To be blunt, Linux is just the least-shit option to run on your PC nowadays lol.

If you want a good start, try Kubuntu kubuntu.org/, I get along great with it. Familiar interface, without all the shovelled shit Microsoft constantly try to force on you. Same KDE Plasma interface Valve use for Steam Deck's Desktop Mode.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I'd actually go with Tuxedo OS. It's basically Linux Mint with KDE. Including flatpaks instead of snaps, newer KDE Plasma versions, and with newer kernel and Mesa versions than Kubuntu.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I'm writing an article on how to install Linux Mint and Tuxedo OS from start to finish. And yes, it will include dual-booting!

One of the few games I bounced off not due to gameplay but due to the story/theme. At the time it was released it felt, to me at the time, too smugly self-referential.

Maybe it's time to give it another chance.

Yeah, took them a LOT of time to acknowledge this.

Although it works wonderfully with Proton, it is still a troublesome experience: Their Kickstarter campaign promised all three desktop platforms, so another Kickstarter promise broken 🤨😞

NVIDIA officially doesn't suck on Linux anymore, the drivers are still proprietary but at least they work 9to5linux.com/nvidia-555-beta-…

throwback to the time I tried to install Nvidia drivers on my system just for them to break the system entirely. Only thing that worked was a tty
in reply to Brodie Robertson

nvidia?? doing something for linux to make it not suck even with propriatery drivers is rare thing to see, but thanks nvidia, next thing we need to see is nvidia opensourcing their drivers (high cope but we can dream)

This little guy got himself stuck down a shallow mineshaft. All people could see of him were his spines, but that was enough to rescue him! We have a little echidna like this who lives near our property and visits once in awhile. If he sees us, he runs behind the garbage bin and hides his face. His spiky behind is still often quite visible! He makes the cutest grumpy sounds.

Backblaze just became a storage option for Mastodon admins. I heard it’s quite cheap

in reply to Eugen Rochko

I know this is an old post, but instances are coming across many issues using Backblaze with Sidekiq failures, regardless of setting up timeouts, retry attempts, etc

Mainly 503, No tomes, execution expired, & 443 errors during times of congestion

Any chance of getting a look at the root cause or some hints on best way to handle this so small instances can continue to afford cdn?

After weeks of working with Backblaze, after many 1000 errors, here is the final result
