I made a minecraft server it was called "Benjamin"; first time I copied files with scp with the help from my dad. I was 10 years old.

Around the turn of the century, a friend gave me a computer with Windows 98 on it and a floppy that would supposedly boot Linux (original RedHat 6, cli only).

Linux wouldn't boot, so I got a book called Running Linux from the local library and my friend gave me a Knoppix CD. With the aid of these, I got Linux up and running.

I was blown away by the existence of an OS that could be fixed so easily when it misbehaved. And I've never looked back.

would be great if proton can get to a stage where surgical interventions are not required for every game. Good job nevertheless.

i know people don't like valve for DRM.

But i dont really mind paying the valve tax, since they are the only ones caring about my platform of choice

If you’re running both Linux (like Kali or Ubuntu) and Windows on the same machine and notice that Windows displays the wrong time after booting into Linux, you’re not alone.

It kept bugging me for years tbh 🤣.

Solution is simple - just run the following command in your Linux terminal:

sudo timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 --adjust-system-clock

We've raised over $25,000 in just the first week thanks to your support and the matching funds from the Friends of Tor! 👏👏

Let's keep the momentum going and reach our goal. Share the news and spread the word to help us get there!

Our Friends of Tor are still matching each donation 1:1, up to $5,000. That means if you donate $25 now, the Friends of Tor will match your gift by donating $25, doubling your impact to a total of $50.

in reply to The Tor Project

As a project focusing on privacy it's surprising you want home address and email to be able to donate. Was going to donate but that didn't feel right.

I can't believe it. I've been looking for a great FLOSS dashboard for my browser. And it turns out the one I've been looking for is Renewed Tab by @rubenwardy: renewedtab.com/en/

@rubenwardy is also a lead dev of @Luanti and hosts my kids' favorite game server, Capture the Flag: content.luanti.org/packages/ru…

Thank you for your amazing work!

in reply to Nathan Schneider

If you don't mind, a couple feature requests:

- Load a local text file into a widget (I'd love to be able to display my Markdown-structured to-do list)
- A widget for Firefox's Pocket recommendations (which I kinda love even tho I use @wallabag rather than Pocket)

in reply to Nathan Schneider

I LOVE how the search bar works both for searching content on the dashboard and for web search! So clever.

I wrote a book. It’s called Drystone – A Life Rebuilt.

If you like:

Non-Fiction (but make it literary)

Stone (but as metaphor too)

Feminism (but quiet and feral)

Men (but as minor characters)

Land (but not romanticised)

Motherhood (but honest)

Then congratulations, this very good book is for you.

Well, went to the doctor because I was concerned about some symptoms. They felt they should send me to the hospital to get some tests where it is free (as opposed to the offices of a specialist). We arrive there just after four. Eight hours later we make some interesting discoveries that will require more investigation. Driving home at 1am we passed by the side of the road a fox, then a bunny, then kangaroos at two different points. Finally, we had to swerve around a wombat. What a night!

@muse - I think I must have been transformed into bacon or a smoked ham: Both of my parents smoked a lot (I'm pretty sure it contributed to the death of my father, my mother is still going reasonably well at 96). My Los Angeles grandparents smoked (but not around us kids). And I grew up in the worst smog area of LA.

in reply to It's FOSS

I do not agree. Is not about GNU/Linux... It is about the market of hardware unruled for pre-installed software. In my country it is almost impossible to buy a computer without Windows or Mac pre-installed. If you ask for none OS installed, simply there are any discounts.
in reply to It's FOSS

Linux won't be widely adopted if there's isn't enough market shares.
