I have repeatedly said that I just want those who are profiting from the “business of commemoration” accountable. Especially while they invest nothing in even keeping accurate records of the victims, nor in human curators, and while their senior staff also covers high-ranking roles in the IDF, and while writing stuff that justifies “Israel’s response with all of its military might” and Palestinian deaths (“they’re just human shields”). And that the inference “if we call for boycotting Israeli businesses that are tied to this genocide then we should also boycott the Auschwitz foundation” isn’t that illogical. And that it’s hypocritical to say “Never again” while you just do it again.

I justified my views using the following sources:

This guy @ErikvanStraten, who comes from a family who was a victim of the Holocaust, and regularly denounces the Auschwitz foundation
The words on the NYT of this Jewish professor specialized in the Holocaust archive.is/QQZak

The fact that you ignored all of these arguments, cherrypicked only a few words that were convenient to you, threatened me to report me to the HR of my employer and then tried to frame me as a Nazi to get my instance defederated (ignoring that my grandpa fought those scumbags on the Italian Appennines and helped Jews, and that I have stood up against fascist intimidation throughout most of my life, and even put myself in danger to defend both Jewish or Arab friends) says much more about YOUR intimidation techniques than the alleged weakness of MY arguments!

People like YOU who keep arguing for their unaccountability and exploit the tragedies of the past to justify the tragedies of the present, and who act like cold bureaucrats at the service of a foreign propaganda regime that refuses to argue and reason (despite all the “I’m open to discuss” bullsh*t you wrote on your profile), and instead just try to screw other people’s lives and prevent civilized discourse about certain topics on the basis of a few keywords that they grab, are the worst disgrace and insult to the memory of the dead, not those like ME who just demand for accountability without taboos and without biases!

And rest assured that your mafia thug intimidation techniques don’t work with me! The whole world is seeing what kind of thugs you are, and your arrogance is an insult to all the good Jewish folks out there!

And if you refuse to respond to any other arguments I’ve laid in front of you I’d just like an answer to a simple question: do you do this kind of witch hunt because you’re genuinely a despicable human being who refuses to embrace the nuances and complexities behind such complex topics, or because you have financial incentives from it?

I don’t like to repeat that word, hence the abbreviation. I’m sorry for the unfortunate ambiguity, but let’s not get again into the stare-at-the-finger-while-I-point-at-the-moon thing because it’s frustrating for the intelligence of all the parts.

Once we are sure that we’re all in good faith we can support them as much as we’ve always done. But now I don’t think that many of those folks are really doing a good job keeping the memory of the dead alive, nor that they are in good faith.

Just like right now I wouldn’t feel comfortable to buy Israeli oranges because I can’t be sure that they were not grown on stolen land, so I don’t feel comfortable going to a Holocaust museum without knowing that the money for my ticket goes to historical research and initiatives for peace rather than social media posts that boast about “Israel’s military might”. And I have the right to express this opinion without retaliation.

I acknowledge that these are hard topics to talk about. I acknowledge that people can flare up as soon as they hear a word that triggers them. But it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be talked about. Nor that I should be framed like a Nazi for talking about them. Nor that talking about them means that at the first cherry-picked word I may lose my job or the federation of the instance that I’ve administered for years. Because these are thug threats and fascist intimidation techniques that I’ve been trained to fight and I will keep fighting.

Or about some of the material about the Auschwitz foundation shared by relatives of survivors who are rightfully offended by the foundation sharing automated posts pulled from outdated databases with incorrent information?

@fabio @staff Does the money other museums get also get reinvested in specific external causes or it this a bar you have invented exclusively for commemoration of Jewish suffering? You are proposing the erasure of history, not only of the Jewish people, but Roma and Sinti, the LGBT and the disabled, as revenge for what the Israel government is doing, as if all Jewish people are responsible for it. This is not a normal opinion.

With respect, no he isn’t. He’s expressing an opinion that using an historical tragedy to mask abhorrent behavior now is unacceptable. He is entitled to his opinion, as are we all.

He is not suggesting that the offending museums should be closed or that their portfolios should be distributed elsewhere or erased.

The ‘different bar’ is a fair comment, but argue this point, not some other invented offence.

@fmn I think you misunderstand our company ethos. We're against platform monopolies that inevitably exploit users. We're not against people using social media for business! Plenty of artists, musicians, YouTubers and journalists here on the fediverse for whom social media is how they earn their living.

I'm updating satellite numbers for yet another talk.

There now 8,077 Starlink satellites in orbit, 1,240 have already been burned up in the atmosphere, depositing all their metal, plastic, and computer bits in the stratosphere as weird vapour (data from planet4589.org/space/con/conli…)

12,238 active satellites now catalogued. The fraction of Starlinks is actually holding pretty steady lately because so many other operators have started launching. Over 200 satellites launched this month.

I was recently very surprised to find out that an oil palm can be harvested every 4 weeks or so. This is an incredibly productive tree so if the tree is sustainably grown then you can get a lot of nutrition from it.

Fears that falling birth rates in US could lead to population collapse are based on faulty assumptions

I would add to the faulty reasoning:

~ the replacement theory concerning POCs.
~ fear of women in the work force

~ environmental stress from loss of habitat to housing, etc.

@Jay Bryant I agree, its not just video games, but games of any sort have this value in maintaining and boosting intelligence, advancing neuron connections, pattern recognition, mathematical prowess etc. Video games add the ability to do so at one's own timing pace when there is no one locally to participate with.

This why games like Scrabble, Chess, etc. are also important learning tools, whether in traditional form or as videogames. The same of course applies to even more complex games and systems in computer games and online games where you have to deal with numerous other factors and adapt and develop strategies on the go due to random things like terrain in movement, resource management etc.
