@Gargron No - Unless the fact I say it's "sale of goods" is what you mean by that?
in reply to JenJen

That could be the problem. Sale of goods goes under "Reason for export". I'd put "FOB" under "Terms of sale (Incoterm)". That might prevent this from happening in the future.

as much as I love nextcloud its a shame that it doesn't support AVIF images, despite all major browsers supporting it and even it having open Pull Requests for some years: github.com/nextcloud/server/is…

Retired my last i486 in 2016.

Or: it kind of retired itself...

Bought in 1998 from a friend who bought it new in 1996, replaced win95 (or 98) that was on it when I bought it, with SuSE linux.

When SuSE failed to update it ran for a while using floppyfw (created by a friend of mine)

In 2001, I put a debian netinstall floppy into the floppy disk drive and installed debian and ran "apt dist-upgrade" from 2001 to 2016 when the HW finally failed.

in reply to It's FOSS

In the worst case, I think some BSD flavours are still supporting it in a way or another; at least nominally NetBSD has it as minimal requirement.
NetBSD even support Amiga48k...!

Watching Fedi and the world react to the US president go absolutely unhinged in public, threatening war crimes as his cognitive grip disintegrates before our eyes, watching the horror and the outrage…there is something I want to tell you from Minneapolis.

And I’m not sure how, and I’m not sure if I can, but I want to try. People are always thanking us and calling us heroes and asking us for some kind of…something, anything we can offer in the face of the authoritarian march, and well, here it is, here is something, if I can figure out how to say it.

You don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know what to do. You feel powerless. Nothing you can do seems like it could possibly be enough.

And then the work is there, on your doorstep, in your hands, and you •just do it• because that is what you do.

Nobody is coming to save you. The choice is ourselves or nothing. The moment you believe that, that you •know• it in your bones, is the moment the work truly begins.

My fellow people of the United States, if I have anything to teach from what Minneapolis just lived through, it is this:

Nobody is coming to save us.

Not Congress. Not the courts. Not the ICC or the EU or NATO. Not the generals or the rank and file. Not the press. Not the markets. Not the elections. Not some mythical version of “The People” that materializes out of nowhere as some messianic external force.

We’re it. We’re all we’ve got. If we don’t stop fascism from completely engulfing the US, then nobody stops it.

We had a new sail made and cut the old one into panels, a few were bad, some were good, we gave some away to friends on other boats, and we'll reuse some for various projects.

I needed a liner for my backpack[1], and dacron is the perfect material for that!

I implemented @neauoire@merveilles.town 's Rejoice, in Perl for some reason 😀

This was attempt like 3? I vaguely remember reading a Moore quote about "writing, rewriting, and rewriting again". I follow that advice religiously

I absolutely hate writing parsers, and yet invariably end up having to write a parser. This is probably the best one I've done but its still a bit of a mess!

The only difference I can spot between my implementation and the UXN one is that mine can't differentiate between [x x x] and x^3 (it always uses the latter). This means that things like [ .x .x .x ] will only print a single x (I'm not sure what the intended behaviour is for that case anyway tbh?)

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

Ah yeah that makes sense, it feels a lot more intuitive that way

Ooh I didn't even think about optimisations. Do you mean that x^10 'y/x would become y^10/x^10? (i.e., from an anonymous label draining x, to a fraction producing y^10)

Its crazy that "optimising a program" could just be "simplifying fractions"

in reply to pat

yeah, instead of looping 10 times, you get how many times the num fits in the den, and apply it once 😀 Reduces cycles a LOT!

Obama made a decision to “look forward” rather than prosecute the architects of the GWB torture program.

That kind of impunity can seem expedient, but it’s morally offensive and bad for democracy.

If Dems should find their way back to power (?), the criminality of Trump and Co. will need to be prosecuted. Political (democratic) legitimacy demands it.

One possibility is outsourcing. Hand perps over to the international courts and let them mete out justice.

RE: mastodon.social/@Gargron/11636…

Joy Mastodon, resplendent in her garden today, sends best wishes to all her fellow #plushtodon souls.

Need more pictures of #plushtodon to improve mental health (⁣#blåhaj will also do).

It's incredibly bleak out there in the world today but I will take a little solace in just how soft and fuzzy my large adult cat son is.

One of my favorite things about Mastodon is clicking through to people's profiles and exploring their personal blogs.

It's rare to find someone without a site, and it's always a delight to discover their obsessions, their diverse interests, and the unique ways they've designed their own spaces.

When will this be over? I just want everyone to be curious about the world through the lens of science and art. I just want everyone to enjoy nature. I just want everyone to fall in love. I just want everyone to look up and be mesmerized by the moon.

Instead of writing tests, I wrote a script to report on missing tests in my project so I can write them later. It’s a specific flavor of procrastination.

So, @exquisitecorp sent me this graphic design book A Co-Program For Graphic Design, in it were a few pages about Hilbert, Peano, and briefly mentioning Formulario Mathematico, a book written in Giuseppe's own simplified Latin. His work has been on my mind lately as I try to design a kind of standard notation to use across all my notes hoping to standardize multiple topic-specific notations into just one style.

Regardless, as I was clumsily trailing Peano's footsteps, I came across this video[1], giving me the idea to try and translate some of the Rejoice examples into Peano's Latino Sine Flexione, as a kind of.. homage? Zoom forward a few days, a hundred hours of Latin youtube, nearly breaking Arch installing Latin dictionaries, I might have gone beyond just translating examples..
