I question what eutopia you've been living in. "Very few companies are so good at shipping software that they can afford" ... this is the critical point. Most companies are populated by a combination of dunning kruger and anti-union crypto bro wannabes. Working as a tech lead for the last 15 years, I can tell you that new religions try to form every day. My god just look at the state of front end development. This reeks of a vendor who is upset that #AI can replace their service.

Last night I read the PC requirements for the rehashed #Halo #CampaignEvolved game - which is basically Halo 1 in a new suit.

It plainly states that the OS _must_ be #Windows11 and run on an #i7 10700K or #Ryzen 5 3600, w/ #RTX 2060 Super or equivalent #GPU , and needs 100GB of storage. You can imagine the ridiculous current cost of the 'recommended' hardware.

A reworked 2001 #VideoGame, using the same audio and music, mechanics, and gameplay (?), and locked up in an #AI box?

Another great story about the impact of AI with no mention to it in the headline of the story:

In South Korea a Starbucks marketing campaign is created using AI and executives don't even bother to open the email attachments to check the proposals. The campaign was published on the date of a pro-democracy protesters massacre calling it Tank Day and using slogans clearly drawing from the deadly military attack, which felt deeply unrespectful to the victims. The AI most likely learned that from far-right forums like Ilbe where mocking the victims is common.

They cancelled the campaign hours after publishing it but it was too late, the CEO has been sacked, card payments went down a 26%, refunds haven been requested from prepaid cards, police is investigating and Starbucks asked costumers to refrain from directing their anger to staff.
