My inbox is as always open for Non-binary character writing and consulting.

I generally don't charge a fee if I like your project so it couldn't hurt to run your idea by me.

Most NB consultants I've run into aren't strong writers, they have the lived experience but not the storytelling skill to bridge the gaps. They also tend to lean on overused and potentially damaging stereotypes without realizing it.

I have novels of experience under my belt and by far some of the best written NB characters that currently exist in all fiction not just in novels.

I do not make the claim lightly that I am a top contender for the most creative NB consultant active on the scene.

I make characters that change how people look at themselves and the world and I wanna help you do the same because I want to see better NB characters and a grand expansion of what a NB character can be.

"I cannot figure out what I meant writing on Jul 3, 1987 that "' have an idea for a revolutionary program arranging my work and scientific experiments'... Oct 16, 1987, Fri, in 12 hours, I wrote my first SuperMemo in GW-BASIC (719 minutes of non-stop programming)."

badass. more 40-year software = more 100-year computers.

The Silmarillion is fantastic, surprisingly readable too (there are quite a few characters, but each story only involves a few key ones). The geography is the hard bit imo

I may even have enjoyed it more than The Hobbit and LOTR (don't quote me on that)

I've built up this mental image of Beleriand, which is utterly useless (i.e., has no relevance to other Tolkien stories)

The way all the histories/lineages/geographies compound on eachother is incredible. Everything echoes, and those echoes are embodied in the societies and physical landscapes

I've definitely read books that I've hated, and immediately forgotten. So at least its not one of those haha

I really like that sort of ye-olde, matter-of-fact style. Its direct and efficient. I'd like to be able to write like that (my poetry is, but my prose gets too flowery/verbose)

Is the Monomoke one like Beren & Luthien? (I need to watch Monomoke again!)

re: dongle battery report

my guess is it strongly depends on whether the protocol it uses reports battery level, and if so, if it is openly reported without any esoteric tools.

The number of folks saying there's no way the name 'GIMP' ever stopped anyone from using or contributing to it is extraordinary.

I have *never* been in an office that has allowed me to install GIMP. Never. I have never even been able to get past the sniff of a pitch about GIMP.

Because of the name.

The level of disconnect people have with basic reality is refreshing. What is their world like?

Long before the Anzacs, April 25 was the day women in Australia got the right to vote

April 25 1896 was a significant date in the history of women’s legal rights in Australia.

Two things happened on this day: women, including Aboriginal women, voted for the first time in Australia, thanks to a Constitutional Amendment passed by the South Australian parliament in 1894; and, in a world first, women in Australia became able to sit in parliament and participate in government.

The 1894 amendment wasn’t the first South Australian bill that gave women the right to vote, but it was the first to became law. So what was different this time?

Muse reshared this.

I started having regular problems with Dysautonomia (autonomic dysfunction) when I was going through menopause over a decade ago. I was rushed to the hospital a couple times with doctors worried that I might have had a heart attack. Even ten years ago people didn't know very much about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which is a connective tissue disorder, one aspect of which can be hypermobility. Now, and I mean only in the last year or so, like POTS--dysautonomia has often been found to be a comorbidity of EDS.

Dysautonomia also shows up in some people with long COVID and other diseases.

The graphic shows a collection of symptoms you may have with Dysautonomia. You are unlikely to have all of them. There is more than one type of Dysautonomia. But if you have a problem that has these symptoms and it is something of a mystery to your doctors, perhaps investigate this.

Writing in the early 2000's: Meticulously spell-check everything, and make sure that the vocabulary is consistent with the latest dictionary edition, or people will think you don't know how to write.

Writing today: Put lots of typos in everything or people will think you're a robot.

Lebanon's president and prime minister accused Israel on Thursday of a war crime, after an airstrike killed a Lebanese journalist in the country's south, where Israeli forces occupy several areas. Rescuers and the reporter's employer on Wednesday confirmed the death of Amal Khalil, a 42-year-old journalist who worked for the Lebanese daily Al-Akbar.
