It's hard to for people to understand the value in "commons" as most of the important thinking on this subject is pre-modern. Though the whole #WWW for 20 years was built as commons, the #dotcons were built on/by enclosing these commons we built, we actually did not think about this much. What we did think on this subject, was barely covered #deathcult worship... thus the mess we are in now.

A whole new view 🤩 🌊

First taste from the SWOT mission shows Earth’s water in higher definition than ever before. The spatial resolution of SWOT ocean measurements is 10 times greater than sea surface height data gathered over the same area by seven other satellites combined.
#NASAEarth

SWOT’s scientific heart, the KaRIn instrument, also measured the elevation of inland water bodies on Long Island (bright pink spots) – an exciting sign of how SWOT can measure details of smaller lakes, ponds, and rivers in ways that satellites could not before.

yeah, I saw his comments in a discussion on adding DRM lease to Gnome Mutter. A similar tone.

people dunk on the quality of FSR but it keeps improving and the fact that it's not locked to a particular GPU brand is great. Very excited to see how the tech will be improved in 3.

Millions of developers could soon be exposed to MITM attacks as Github’s private SSH key has been published. Developers must accept a new host key when reconnecting. If this is not matched with the fingerprint published by Github, this enables the attack: github.blog/2023-03-23-we-upda… #GitHub #MITM

GitHub has rotated its private SSH key for GitHub.com after the secret was was accidentally published in a public GitHub repository. The software development and version control service says, the private RSA key was only "briefly" exposed, but that it took action out of "an abundance of caution."

I love the impromptu humor in this. I was at lunch at Skywalker Ranch on business 25 years ago and George was at the next table but I didn’t get to meet him. Didn’t want to interrupt his meal.

The airborne instruments she uses are similar to what will be on NASA’s upcoming TEMPO mission.

Scheduled to launch in April 2023, TEMPO is a geostationary satellite that will measure ozone, air pollutants, and more every hour.

The Commodore MK-10 works perfectly!

I'm powering it via USB as I don't trust the 90s-era wall-wart that it came with.

Something fun just came in the mail. Just in time for the weekend!

in reply to jefftheworld

That's just wild. Never saw that version of the Commodore logo before, the design of which was clearly 30 years ahead of its time for me to mistake it for a current product.
in reply to Baloo Uriza

@BalooUriza

I think these were sold starting around January 1993, but no idea how long they were on the market.

Definitely interesting to see it boasting Windows 3.x support.

in reply to jefftheworld

The Windows Compatible logo is how I carbon dated this artifact in my head and came up with 30 years. But seriously that Commodore logo looks like someone came up with it since COVID.

About 60 million years ago, a gigantic snake called Titanoboa slithered through the swamps of Colombia, killing its prey by constriction.

Titanoboa was massive, estimated to grow up to 50 ft (>15 m) long, over 2,000 lbs (>900 kg) & 3 ft (~1 m) wide. It could have easily devoured animals as large as alligators. floridamuseum.ufl.edu/100years… Image: Smithsonian Channel

Every large brand audience development lead is currently working on a spreadsheet telling them the value of the traffic generated by #Twitter and finding it’s less than $1000 a month, while every brand legal team is creating a template letter to send to Twitter demanding takedown of accounts impersonating their trade marks. Once more, #Musk doesn’t have a clue.

#Twitter devalues its own product!

"the only value of a twitter blue checkmark now is that people might mistake you for someone who is actually notable. if you get rid of every other checkmark, then the twitter blue checkmark literally means nothing."

And this is about to happen on April 1st. You can't make this up!
