Along those lines I once read that engineers are just sloppy physicists, and that physicists are just sloppy mathematicians.

These ideas lead to the story of a person of each discipline giving examples of what numbers are prime to a layman.

The mathematician said 1 is prime, 2 is prime, 3 is prime, but 4 is not. Get the idea?

When a physicist was asked, he said 1 is prime, 2 is prime, 3 is prime, hmmm . All numbers are prime to a first approximation.

When an engineer was asked for examples, he said let's see, 1 is prime, 1 is prime, 3 is prime, 4 is prime ...

but he has yet to actually say that. instead he just keeps talking in circles and trying to justify it. but this sort of behavior can never be justified if you care about trans people. period

just generally. to queer people on here. for like, being a big person in this community who did harm. who said some fucked up shit. willfully misgendering somebody normalizes the harassment queer people face every day. he has a big audience. people care about his opinions and listen what he has to say. that's why it's important

An amusing factoid: Chicago's famous grid is not actually N-S, E-W aligned: most E-W streets fall south by a bit as you move west. The whole grid is tilted counterclockwise, as you quickly discover when you look critically. Wacker, where this picture is shot is one of the few that do run true, perhaps because as a recent raised street it's a modern artifact, not original to the grid.
