Cold Morning at Chefron (2023)

Fun fact - I took this image about 15min before I fell through the ice into the river below... That was the first of two times I would fall into a river in winter that year. I wouldn't recommend.

Thankfully, I was nearby my car and had a sleeping bag and dry clothes ready to change into! Paid off to be prepared.

For #MountainMonday I have one of my favourite mountains in the #FraserValley of #BritishColumbia - Silver Lake. Hope Mountain is often reflected in Silver Lake here, and makes for a nice spot to visit.

For #MountainMonday I have a rather old photograph I made way back in 2011. The lesson from this one was to wait until the sunset is absolutely, positively, finished before heading back to the car. This one may have involved some running. 😀

"Raking Light", Drakensberg 2024. We had risen in the dark to make the short but steep walk up to this view point on our final morning of a 75km traverse of the berg, and were greeted to views with such depth and light of a wonderful quality. The winds were strong but nothing could distract from the immensity of our surroundings.

"Raking Light", Drakensberg (2024). A vertical image made from a high vantage point on the top of a mountain looking down a ridge covered in grasses glowing in the morning sun and being blown around by a strong wind. A steep cliff falls away below toward a deep valley in verdant greens and bathed in light some thousand meters below.
