Relaisserver sind großartig, um Inhalte in deinem Server zu verbreiten, besonders für kleine Server - stimmt! Entsprechend würde ich nach dem Tod von gup.pe gerne ein Nachrichten-Relais aufsetzen, welches Beiträge mit #Brettspiele auf kleinen Instanzen sichtbar macht. Nur: Wo finde ich eine Anleitung, was nach Festsetzung des Kontotyps zu tun ist? Und wieso kann ein Relais-Konto keinem anderen Relais-Konto folgen? Hier erscheint neuerdings die Fehlermeldung

Mir ist aufgefallen das ich inzwischen bei immer mehr Kontakten ein 'Titelbild' angezeigt bekomme und zwar nicht nur bei den üblichen Verdächtigen wie z. B. Mastodon, sondern auch bei Friendica Accounts. Wie bzw. wo stelle ich das ein?

Und zu guter letzt favorisiert sie alle diese Beiträge mit ihrem ureigenen Profil @AwetTesfaiesus@sozial.awet-tesfaiesus.de, was u.a. dazu führt das sie Kopien von all diesem Material auf ihrer eigenen Instanz für sich privat abgespeichert hat.
Wenn sie dann, zum Beispiel am Jahresende ein kleines Grußwort zu Weihnachten von eben diesem persönlichen eigenen Profil in unseren sozialen Netzwerken mit im Text eingebetteten Links, die auf jene Mediendateien verweisen versendet, bekommen Kontakte von ihr überall auf der Welt, auf Instanzen in Kenia, Eritrea oder Australien, ebenso wie eventuell per Email oder RSS feed, ein Lebenszeichen ihres Kontaktes Awet in Deutschland. Eine Information die dezentral auf vielen unterschiedlichen Servern im Internet, praktisch 100% Zensurresistent abgespeichert wird.
#ALTtext: Schema das darstellt wie ein Pseudonym, in diesem Falle mit dem Namen "@bitpickup", im fediVerse auf verschiedenen Plattformen und mit Hilfe unterschiedlicher Serviceprovider eine Webpräsenz erstellen kann die auf einzigartige Weise ein resilientes und somit ziemlich unabhängiges Setup ermöglichen.
Wenn dies sozial.awet-tesfaiesus.de wäre, dann gäbe es in der local community timeline wahrscheinlich Themen vom Büro aus dem Werra Meissner Kreis @Werra-Meissner-Buero, dem @Hersfeld-Rothenburg-Office und das neuste von der Berliner Sekretärin @SekretaerBaerin. Beispiel: Auf das Profil @MdB_awet-tesfaiesus kann sowohl @awet-tesfaiesus zugreifen als auch @team. Und wenn irgendwann die Politische Karriere ad acta gelegt wird, verbleibt das Profil @MdB_awet-tesfaiesus als historisches Vermächtniß bestehen während @Anwaltskanzlei mit Zugriffsrechten für @awet-tesfaiesus und @team an den Start geht. Und da mensch ja auch immer Privatmensch ist und bleibt, publiziert @awet-tesfaiesus privates, auch mal ein Foto aus dem Urlaub, während @rechtsanwaeltin_awet-tesfaiesus sich zu beruflichen Themen äußert. Zwischen Profilen für die mensch Zugriffsrechte besitzt kann mensch mit zwei clicks hin und her wechseln.
Das fediVerse ist an sich eine komplett neue Welt das einen ganz anderen Ansatz rechtfertigt als es uns bisher schon fast gezwungener Maßen von kommerziellen Anbietern beigebracht wurde.
Eine eigene Instanz kann mittlerweile von Anbietern wie weingaertner-it.de im Netz für ~6.00 Euro (?) im Monat eingerichtet werden. Sich so etwas zumindest mal für ein paar Monate einzurichten und an zu sehen ist auf jeden Fall ein Versuch wert.
Und ja, diese Antwort wurde von einem friendica Profile erstellt. Sich diese auf einem Desktop auf dem Originalserver anzusehen bedeutet ein Idee vom Layout einer Alternative im fediVerse zu bekommen.
Und nein, ich werde jetzt nicht noch erwähnen das MdB Awet eigentlich auf gruene.social gehört, die Person AwetTesfaiesus weiterhin ihre mastodon.social Profil für die Privatperson erhalten sollte und eigentlich nur die kleine Sonnenblume im Profile erahnen lässt MdB welcher Partei sie sind.
Und wenn sie morgen zur SPD abwandern, dann geht @MdB_AwetTesfaiesus@gruene.social in den Winterschlaf während @MdB_AwetTesfaiesus@spd.social auf den Plan tritt. Und wenn übermorgen Awet von DieLinke abgeworben wird dann entsteht plötzlich @MdB_AwetTesfaiesus@dielinke.social.
Nur social.awet-tesfaiesus.de ist immer die eigene unabhängige Instanz und Präsenz von Awet Tesfaiesus, mit den eigenen Daten in persönlichem Besitz, wenn das so weit verständlich ist.
Nun gut, Politiker sind nicht unbedingt so nomadisch wie Fussbalspieler, wenn sie nicht gerade Schilly oder Lafontän heißen, aber es ging bei diesen Beispielen auch eher darum begreiflich zu machen was das fediVerse eigentlich technisch und logisch bedeutet.
Ein Besuch diese Profils auf diesem Server sollte ansonsten weiter Eindrücke ermöglichen wie friendica, das mehr so als fb Ersatz im fediVerse gehandelt wird, aus sieht.

Ich nutzte das #bookface scheme unter Frio. github.com/randompenguin1/book… Dabei ist mir aufgefallen, dass das ich in Desktopgröße einen kleinen Darstellungsschönheitsfehler habe. Da steht oben jetzt einmal in english "compose" und daneben noch mal in Deutsch, "neuer Beitrag" (siehe Screenshot!). Wie kann ich das vielleicht fixen?
Habe nach dem Friendicaupdate gestern mal wieder meine Instanzinterne Föderationsstatistiken angeschaut, die #Friendica standardmäßig so fein aufbereitet. Dabei fällt auf, dass inzwischen Mastodon keine soooo riesige Dominanz mehr hat, wie das früher der Fall war. Aber es gab noch mehr Überraschungen, die ich nicht alle verstehe:
Könnt Ihr mir sagen, was es mit diesem riesigen, hier im Tortendiagramm in Giftgrün dargestellten Anteil der "#Ghost" Server auf sich hat? Was ist Ghost im Fedikontext? Gab es bei mir auf der Instanz früher nicht in der Form.
PS.: Der hellblaue Teilring unten ist Mastodon, der dunkelblaue oben links ist Wordpress, dessen Aanteil hat sich auch signifikant erhöht hat, was ich gut finde, aber auch nachvollziehen kann; wohl dank der Arbeit von @Matthias Pfefferle. @Friendica Admins

@Wilhelm thanks... somehow I kept missing things on Pleroma. The reason I switched to Pleroma originally was to play around, but then when my Friendica @utzer@social.yl.ms burned I was stuck on #Pleroma... also looked at Mastodon, but it just isn't checking all requirements I have. So I am back to Friendica and now Docker. I need to improve the setup, but I think it works quite fine like it is for now.
I love the "stay local" function, don't know why that is not a thing on Pleroma and the really reliable search for post URLs is such an underrated feature. Pleroma has this as well, but often it just doesn't work. Same is the search for users by handle, love #Friendica there too.

Wenn ich ein MP4 Video wie z. B. hier einbette und es dann abspiele, bricht es nach ca. 33 Sekunden ab. Öffne ich es in einem neuen Browsertab (Link) läuft es dort problemlos.
Problem ist einzig und allein, dass er mir unter Friendica nicht angezeigt wird. Gerade herausgefunden habe ich das die Beiträge der Gruppe/Community Verkehrswende offenbar auch nicht korrekt hier her federiert werden. Da gibt es also offenbar mehr Probleme als ich ursprünglich dachte.
Wie komme ich an den Kommentar, um darauf reagieren zu können?

Kann es sein das Spam im Fediverse vor allen von Diaspora her kommt? Klar ich hatte das auch schon auf Basis von Mastodon, aber eben nur sehr sehr wenig. Das was Diapora kommt ist wesentlich mehr. Neuestes Beispiel ist der Account globalfinancellz@diaspora.psyco.fr (Link) der mir folgenden schönen Kommentar schickte, den ich natürlich gelöscht habe:
I posted asking for help on this a bit ago, and while I didn't get any solutions, it did get my brain thinking outside of the box, and I found the solution, its easy, but proof that the UI, especially the settings layout really needs some work around here.
For whatever reason, the necessary setting isn't under the timeline settings, but Social Networks
The key setting here is Followed Content Scope, default is 'Conversations my follows started or commented on', but if'n you change it to 'Only conversations my follows started' if will only show original posts and boosts.
Hopefully this'll help others, I mentioned in a comment on my original post, but that could easily be missed, so here we go. Oh, and if'n you've any tag suggestions, send them my way, and I'll prolly add them.
How would people feel about a future version of Bookface removing the engagement counts from the Action Button? Now that the response info is reduced to an icon and a number the count on the Action Button with the same icon is redundant and makes the UI unnecessarily cluttered.
I know since the beginning of Bookface some people have found the engagement counts on the buttons too "busy" or "distracting" but before I remove them I thought I'd ask how people feel about that?
I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but sometimes the engagement counts and responses don't agree. I *think* this is because the engagement counts are subtracting your own interactions? So in the screenshot above it's not counting my 2 comments and not counting my "Like" on the buttons, but is counting them in the response totals. Getting rid of the counts on the buttons would eliminate this inconsistency.
The Zen Postbox add-on has been updated to version 1.3
This fixes an issue where the postbox styling was not shown sitewide or when users were not logged into the server. Now if either of the add-ons is enabled the postboxes should be shown on that server everywhere, even to users who are not logged in.
The add-ons have also been updated to make sure they work with the 2025.7 Release Candidate development version.
Again, the difference between Postbox and Zen Postbox is the first one only includes the stylesheet to show them. You have to manually add the BBcode to your posts. The "Zen" one adds a button to the Compose modal to let you pick from a list and automatically adds the BBcode to your post.

If multiple people engaged with the post in a certain way you no longer have to click the count to see the list, it's a popover that appears on hover (active on touch devices). This is a lot cleaner and more consistent with how these are displayed on other social media platforms.
You'll also notice that the Main Menu missing icons are in place. This is a change that's coming in the next Friendica release anyway, but Bookface lets you have it right now:
Someone specifically asked whether the main navigation buttons could have labels on them:
I didn't turn it on by default, but nav button labels are now coded into Bookface and if you're using CSS variable customization they're easy to turn on:

The label text is also customizable. Until now the only way to implement such customizations was either for a server admin to manually put them into the header or footer sitewide or for individual users to put them in a user content stylesheet just for your web browser. That's why I'm also releasing a new Friendica addon called "Bookface Custom" that, if your server admin installs it, allows you to customized every one of the Bookface CSS variables to your heart's content.
New releases fix a couple of problems. The add-ons should now work with both the stable and development releases.
Zen Postbox 1.2[Download] - this is the one that adds a button to the message composer. This release fixes the missing images for the animated backgrounds.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to start using Friendica.
Crashes across all interfaces, takes forever to load. Maybe, if you collapsed all comments by default, just maybe it wouldn't be crunching so hard. Bluesky integration fails completely. Oh well, seemed perfect for me, in the abstract. I learned quite a lot about the potential. Think I just need to make Mastodon my one stop-shop instead.
I'm considering changing the engagement details below posts and comments now that Bookface shows icons for them. The current appearance is a vertical list, which can leave a lot of unused space to the right of it, plus all the explanatory text feels redundant and visually cluttering to me:
So I'm considering eliminating the explanatory text and going with a horizontal list of just names (for single interactions) and counts (that trigger the pop-over list) like this:
But that got me to an option with just icons and counts, which is similar to how Facebook and Misskey/Sharkey show reactions/engagements:
Which is what I'd prefer as it looks the cleanest and most consistent.
Thoughts on this proposed change? (I really wish Friendica had polls for this sort of thing!)

Früher war es doch so das wenn man mit dem Mauszeiger oben über den Namen oder das Profilbild eines Kontakts ging ein kleines Feld kam in dem man verschiedene Optionen zum Kontakt hatte. Doch hier ist das irgendwie nicht mehr der Fall, es ist nur noch ein Link zum Profil. Ist das ein generelles Problem, oder nur bei mir?
Die Daten meiner Instanz: Diese Friendica-Instanz verwendet die Version 2024.12, sie ist unter der folgenden Adresse im Web zu finden fedinaut.de. Die Datenbankversion ist 1576/1576 und die Post-Update-Version 1550/1550.
@Friend Icare #Friendica is using external media (like youtube) directly and does not "proxify" them. For YT videos there is or was an addon for redirecting it to an #Invidious instance. Since Google started blocking such instances, there are only a few working left. My favorite is inv.nadeko.net . So your administrator needs configure it unless not yet done.
For the other external references, I have no idea, just block 3rd-party cookies, I guess.

Make sure to PREVIEW it before you post it! While Friendica's Postboxes do allow more content than just plain text, certain formatting blocks can't be placed inside them.

Keep in mind that other servers that don't implement Postbox styling, other platforms (like Mastodon), and third-party apps will not show these colored backgrounds. This feature only works in the Friendica webapp/website.

Deren Nutzer also darauf angewiesen sind anonym über den Server auf der der Beitrag erstellt wurde darauf zuzugreifen.

Friendica: Warum sind in den Kommentaren keine Profilbilder von Lemmy Accounts zu sehen?
Ja ich weiß das auf Lemmy die Sache mit den Benutzeraccounts etwas anders gehandhabt wird. Aber das Profilbild des Accounts der den Beitrag eingestellt hat sieht man ja auch. Hier ein Beispiel:

I moved the #Friendica Wiki to another server. I need some people to test it and see if all works. I will then solve the problems pointed out.
The initial setup was not done by me. It was still on a server with php 7.4 because it did not work with 8.x due to some plugins. I removed those plugins, apparently not maintained since 2014.
I also saw that it loads some js from some CDN, I don't like that either, so tips welcome on that. Maybe there is a plugin that stores such stuff locally?
Also can you suggest a free service to analyze your webpage, show problem, broken links and such?
I saw that the Avatar (only a systemwide standard avatar for all users) is not displayed in my Firefox, but looks fine on Chromium. May be a DNS issue, so local issue only, seems tailscale some how messes up my DNS resolution. But please have a look for any embedded stuff that does not load!

Over on Facebook most people probably never go beyond the very awful "News Feed" which is full of algorithm-driven, AI-generated, and advertising garbage. And the only people, groups, or pages you see there are the ones you regularly interact with. Which is why for years I've been using the other feeds on Facebook, and they're the only thing that actually makes that platform

My best guesses are:
What's Hot = News Feed: It's a fire hose of posts from accounts you don't follow that are getting a lot of engagement. However, I have no clue what kinds of interactions or how many get something into this feed. There is also a "Discover" feed that says it's supposed to show "Posts from accounts that you don't follow but might like" and I have no clue how, without an algorithm, it would determine what I might like. Apparently it doesn't or can't because that feed is empty for me.
Latest Activity = All Feed: because it's based on people you're connected to and shows all their latest interactions (Posts, Likes, Shares, and Comments) including on posts by accounts you don't follow.
For You = Friends Feed: which I think is just posts from people listed as "Mutual Friendship" in your Contacts, meaning you are following them, they are following you.
Latest Activity + Circles/Account Types > Groups = Groups Feed: there doesn't appear to a separate Groups feed in Friendica.
Latest Activity + Circles > Interests = Pages Feed: at least I think "Interests" is referring to "Pages" but I'm not sure, and there doesn't appear to be a separate "Interests" feed.
It would be nice if you could filter the "Network" feeds by more than one thing at a time. There is no way to "stack" filters or save that view. Which is too bad because that would be a killer feature akin to Bluesky's custom algorithms!
As for the other "Timelines" in Friendica:
"Latest posts" and "Latest Creation" are obviously because stuff doesn't necessarily arrive on your server at the same time it was sent from another one. Though I'm not sure anything posted to social media is so time-sensitive you'd need these feeds since I assume the same stuff will show up under "Latest Activity."
"Personal" only shows posts that @ mention you. "Sharers of Sharers" sounds like a feed of what you would call "Friends of Friends" on Facebook. It's unclear what puts someone in "Quiet Sharers" though. It sounds like "Mutual Friendships" that just don't post much, but how often is often?
I'm guessing "Starred" means posts I've LIKED? Or does it only mean posts I've actually gone to the "More..." drop-down and selected "Add Star"? Or BOTH?
"Images," "Audio," and "Video" are pretty self-explanatory, I guess if you're here for the photos, podcasts, and TikTokish content. I've also seen on servers that have a lot of add-ons enabled people might have additional feeds for other platforms they are connected to, which are self-explanatory.
"Local Community" and "Global Community" appear to be the same feeds as under the "Community" button in the main navigation. Which is redundant, but okay.
Then I've also seen instructions for new users to go into Settings > Social Networks > General Social Media Settings and change the drop-down to "Any conversation my follows interact with, including likes" or your feeds will be pretty bare.
It's little wonder this confuses people coming from other platforms. It's...a lot.
