Quiet close up colour photograph of some leaves on an evergreen tree in winter, in the rain. The leaves are hanging heavily, weighed down by the waterdrops that occasionally appear at the tips. Final #SilentSunday for 2023.
Photo of a lone hawthorn tree on open moorland. The tree has, at some time, fallen to the right, its root plate lifted up leaving a shallow hollow that has since filled with water and created a pool. Still the tree grows, its mossy trunk half lying on the uneven ground then twisting skywards with knotted, thorny branches, now winter-bare. Tall spiky, grasses grow at the base, around the edge of the pool and where the ground is boggy. Moorland rises up behind the tree to a grey granite tor on the skyline. The slopes covered in rough brownish green grass and scattered gorse bushes. The sky is bright blue with a few puffs of wispy white cloud.

Snow covered Langdales from Blea Tarn

I took this on Thursday, the snow cover took me by surprise. A heavy shower had just moved across the Langdale fells and then the sun came out - it took me a moment to realise that the reason the mountains were so bright was because of the snow.
