I grew these mushrooms in a cloth grow bag using only wood chips as the substrate. I thought that they would fruit in the top, but instead they actually fruited through the fabric in the bottom.

They struggled a bit due to the low humidity indoors, but I spray them with water several times a day, so I will be able to harvest something.

Over the holidaya my daughter and I made "trash soup".

We sterilized some compostable paper, tea leaves, coffee grounds, etc in a pot, let it cool, and then mixed in oyster mushroom mycelia. A few weeks later, we have over 500 g!

Oyster mushroom spawn are coming along nicely. Having worked with other fungi, I am surprised how quickly these take. Must be a major reason why these are such popular mushrooms to grow.

Hopefully these will be a nice winter crop, maybe even something I can use to supplement the composting.
