@Gargron @fishidwardrobe i understand what youโ€™re trying to say, but DHH does unfortunately have a lot to do with Ruby. Rails occupies a lot of, if not most of, the zeitgeist for Ruby. itโ€™s a great multi-purpose scripting language but most people who use it, especially professionally, are using it to work on Rails applications. DHH is not just the figurehead for Rails; heโ€™s a huge presence in the Ruby community at large

For large organizations, a public set of rules also provides legal cover against people who might otherwise sue/invoke the EU DSA/etc because they feel they have been unjustly banned. Also, in general, having well-articulated public rules is an honest signal of willing to put effort into maintaining a community (and also giving a hint of what that community may be like). I don't think there needs to be a one-size-fits-all solution, though.

Rules for communities are a good thing, so long as they are fair.
I.e. no rules against bigotry with caveats that "we will not act on complaints regarding reverseisms" and suchlike

Picked up a fun one at the Japanese bookstore yesterday. A manga adaptation of HP Lovecraftโ€™s The Call of Cthulhu. Iโ€™ve never gravitated to the Lovecraftian cosmic horror genre but something about the rose gold metallic ink on the cover called to meโ€ฆ it called meโ€ฆ it called sayingโ€ฆ โ€œCthulhu fhtagnโ€
