Hey @dansup I just noticed mastodon.nz was missing from fedidb.com/software/mastodon?r… - did you stick it somewhere else? I am pretty confident NZ is in Oceania! 8)

I would be happy to do a PR, if you could tell me where... I can't seem to see the data on github? Am I not looking hard enough? 8)
in reply to Rob Thomas [Admin m.au]

I just manually updated it to Wellington, NZ, let me know if you want me to change the city.

@ohnoitsnoah @june I’ve been pondering the idea of a dedicated uxn handheld. would be cool, especially if it had a keyboard with instructions to allow programming!

@june @ohnoitsnoah A friend has offered to send me a m5paper, if I do get it, I won't have any other choice D:

wait do you have link to the benchmark, I want to give it a go; bunnymark runs all the way up till the number of bunnies overflows in my ordinator and I want to try something more intensive to see where the bottleneck is in my rendering code
in reply to Aled;cd

try the file linked above, and bring TRI_COUNT all the way up, it'll start being weird after more cycles than the size of an int, but give it a shot 😀

If you want to make an animation like the video, put the scene function in the screen vector.

Oh I wanted to benchmark my little ordinator (which I should probably publish) it runs oquonie so I'm hoping its up to task
in reply to Aled;cd

@ldcd OOoh! Excellent, yes, perfect. In that case, compare the benchmark to uxn11 which is as good an implementation as I know how to make it today.
in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

Published! the only bug I know of in the existing version is the click handling, some programs will register multiple clicks
in reply to Aled;cd

@ldcd just got to try it out! That's coming along nicely 😁 Single file rust emulator, very pretty.

Please just project this behind you while you DJ

@calutron lol @ Nikolina's visuals. I should try using this for audio reactive visuals next show!
in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

Nice optimizations!! That ROT2k ORA2 ORA2 was gold 😛

As you saw in the repo I'm slowly working towards a little #uxn 3d engine, stay tuned 😀

The benchmark draws a lot of very large triangles, and those are particularly slow. In a game I expect only the environment to be made up of so big triangles (and even then, one can subdivide as in PS1), so hopefully we can have more triangles than 32 per frame.

Also, it's going to be interesting to see if the improved (2nd iteration) sprite-based drawing routine improves performance!

in reply to gustav

For what it's worth, the SNES was only able to manage about 24 polygons per frame via the CPU, so these routines are beating that! 😀

It'd be hilarious to see an equivalent of the Super FX chip in Uxn, either as an external device or as a series of routines.

in reply to ⟅ June ⟆

@june That would have to use the Screen device expansion port, but that takes away all the fun ^^;

@dianawastaken @dodecadron @rspfau and then there is Peter Higgs, with less than ten papers and a Nobel.

It's a bit strange to talk about, because so many scientists work their butt off to publish maybe few papers a year. But hyper-publication in a relatively small number of labs skews standards and expectations for everyone else. And, depending on the scale, it compromises the integrity of the whole peer review process, without necessarily producing any meaningful products.

in reply to Jan van der Laan

@dodecadron @rspfau
I genuinely gagged when I read that. Silly me, thinking I could pursue research without publishing over 20 articles per year on the regular

Cool.

But… did you post this after the event started?

Maybe I ask my question again here:
Is there a way to search by file type and size in NextCloud?
After my Google photos export, I have a ton of JSON files that I would like to select and delete.

in reply to David

hi there! In Nextcloud Files, you can filter files in your library by type (top of the list) or sort them by size by clicking on the Size column header.

As for the event announcement – right, it seems like a timing issue. We will announce the next meetup here when we have it planned: help.nextcloud.com/

They always had a fun core game there, and it is a bit painful to see it in this chaotic state and with a stale battle pass slapped on. It must be so hard to retain players against the giants in the fps genre, but I doubt it'll ever be successful to copy the big ones when you're a small developer.

Computers weren't an economic bubble, at all. By the way, here's your pen and lighter with a built-in calculator, "I bet you've waited for it". Comes in gold (15,000 yen), black (12,000 yen) and silver (10,000 yen).

The brand names are:
- IC Calculighter
- Calcupen

Also, "NASA Microcomputers" is definitely not a copyright violation, lol.

CHARLES RAFFERTY

The Problem with Early Warnings

People don't like to leave a party
unless the house is actually
on fire. Even then, if the flames
are far enough away
to be pretty, they'll finish
their drink, take one more pass
at the hors d'oeuvres.
How things happen has always been
unclear. Hurricanes begin
in a place where no one lives.
Agents of the government start
to wear masks. 𝘍𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘮 is
a word my neighbors won't use
yet. They are following
the law, they say, and the sirens
are coming for someone else.

An endangered small wild cat native to Thailand’s wetlands has been sighted for the first time in 30 years, the country’s wildlife authorities have said.
The flat-headed cat has long been feared extinct in the tropical kingdom, where it inhabits peatlands, mangrove forests, and marshes that are difficult to access.
The last confirmed sighting was in 1995. Now 30 years later, the flat-headed cat has surfaced following a camera trap survey in southern Thailand’s Princess Sirindhorn Wildlife Sanctuary.
