Upcoming Steam update should fix lag spikes on Linux when the Steam Overlay is disabled gamingonlinux.com/2025/05/upco…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Finally.

That it is linked to having the Steam Overlay disabled also explains why I have been seeing this on my account, while my wife hasn't despite playing on the same PC....

@Noam נעם Maybe. But that's part of the damage AI has been creating: we believe what is false, and doubt what is true.
in reply to Muse

Not an illusion, for sure.

In fact I'm pretty sure I've seen the capybara in person, though probably not the goat as my only visit to that farm was in 2014 and the photo is likely from 2018 according to the internets.

I am 99.999% certain the photo was taken in Lake Country, BC, though the farm has since relocated.

This is a BAFTA award-winning short. And it deserves it! So funny!

Oh, how I miss my #xmonad. And, to be honest, my #gentoo. But somehow, somewhen I stopped tweaking my system. .... might have been due to my disappointment over systemd (which ofc never was a thing in gentoo). But this made me lazy.

I remember ages ago my brother-in-lawbtried to talk me into SUSE. I told him: "If I wanted a control panel [yast], I'd use windows."

And then came systemd. This took a lot of my enthusiasm and drained my interest in tinkering.

Time to start all over again. Get rid of kali, install gentoo and - alas! - xmonad.

Thanks for the inspiration.

The biological sex differences are interesting and I wonder why that is.

education on privacy and the promotion of these services and tools is a useful strategy to help privacy as a demand and human rights, making articles, videos, or promoting such topics in events where its relevant and appropriate.
introducing it in an accessible matter to those not educated on the subject, not everyone is technically knowledgeable and knowing how and what to introduce is important.
in reply to The Tor Project

Slight problem I see with that: You guys altered the code a bit to essentially stop the fingerprint isolation (Windows fingerprint instead of something like Linux or Mac), which was to comply with pre-crime. Did you guys anticipate the consequences of being called out for basically succumbing to pre-crime laws?

Do you know any citizen/community scientists or journalists covering environmental / public health issues along the Colorado River?

Next month, I'm going to ride my bike from Denver up into the Rockies, out to Glenwood Springs, and along the Colorado River to Moab, before turning north to Salt Lake City.

Along the way, I'm hoping to meet journalists & community scientists working to support community flourishing with data & evidence. I would love to say hi!

@ntnsndr I don't off the top of my head. But I bet there are folks at Fort Lewis College in Durango that would be good to talk to.

Also, that sounds like it's gonna be a *hot* ride! June in the SW is no joke!

just curious, have you ever considered spinning up a sister site/brand for non-Linux gaming news like this? I know you’ve been branching out with your coverage and honestly it’s been fantastic. I just feel like some people dismiss the articles I share when they see the domain name and it sucks because your writing and integrity speak so much louder than the domain name if they could just look past it.

Either way, keep up the amazing work and I’ll keep sharing your articles regardless! 👍

in reply to KuJoe 💞

@KuJoe tried before, too much effort, better to just keep it to where people already look than try to solo build up another site

If people stare at our domain name and don't click, i don't really care, their loss 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if once the game is completed they decide to expand on it, implementing some kind of scenario with a meta-map and permanent battlefields, kind of like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade or Star Wars:Empire at War, I always like it when a project does something similar

I've been on mastodon for a while but recently decided to move to this server. Thank you for having me! Here are my perfect cats, Fergus and Francie.
