With Hubble, astronomers measured the mass of a single, isolated white dwarf – which is the surviving core of a burned-out star.

The white dwarf, called LAWD 37, is 56% the mass of our Sun: go.nasa.gov/3l31XyZ

More ⬇️
#Hubble

Astronomers were able to determine this using “gravitational microlensing” – when the gravity of a foreground object warps the light coming from an object behind it.

The light from a background star was slightly deflected by the gravitational warping of space by LAWD 37.

Heroic Games Launcher 2.6.0 out now adding auto updates, new theme

@Thad Instead of making an off-hand comment here, why not inform them properly huh? github.com/Heroic-Games-Launch…
@Thad
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Because it's the kind of minor but obvious presentation detail where the devs are certainly aware of it, intend to fix it at some point, but don't consider it a priority and are probably right not to.

"Why not file a bug report instead of making an offhand comment?" is a good question to ask, but in this case it really is because the criteria for a bug report are different from the criteria for an offhand comment.

But thanks for asking and making me think about it.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I'd say a combination of experience and obviousness, but if you want something more concrete, here's a previous bug report on the subject:

github.com/Heroic-Games-Launch…

Appears I guessed wrong about the motivation for not fixing it; it's not "we'll get to it but it's not a priority", it's a deliberate stylistic choice. "The" gets ignored but "a" and "an" don't. I think it's an odd decision, but ultimately it's theirs to make.

I wish you a lot of fun with hob. A hidden gem that suffered way to long of my "to be played... soon... " pile of shame...

@Brad_Rosenheim Fantastic review! Was reminded of comment from non-scientist (degreed in literature), “Virologists know nothing. Viruses aren’t even alive.” I had to take a big deep breath before more calmly replying. Perhaps I’ll forward this review to him. 😏 #viruses rule! 😉

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

its always been a fantastic game but with the steam release giving it a proper GUI that you can interact with, 100% deserved. The amount of detail and complex randomization that the game gives you without it being impossible to progress has always been a 10/10. With the GUI now able to be used so its easier to navigate and mess with 11/10.
