Students Angry Over AI

It's not Just Students That Cheat Using AI

#YoutubeShort #Education #Academia #AI #AIAbuse

in reply to It's FOSS

The issues weren’t just shady finances or random ego-driven decisions, but a total U-turn from why maps.me was even forked. Those alleged Russian military ties? Of course, totally denied - facts, names, and geography don’t matter. Questions got deleted, devs got defensive, and whatever moral compass there was flew straight into the bin. Good app, shame about... literally everything else behind it.
in reply to It's FOSS

That's quite an article. Very worrying. Too bad the authors didn't provide links or structural evidence backing up their claims. And I don't want to waste my time on a goose chase.

Valve give Steam developer and publisher pages a little extra visibility gamingonlinux.com/2025/05/valv…

This new editorial in Nature is a bit naive. There *is* a pivot penalty, and it has lots of negative side effects. However, you cannot simply wish it away. The incentive schemes in academia are products of business model of modern, tuition/endowment-hungry university system. So long as visibility drives revenue, researchers will be incentivized to maximize visibility over scientific impact.

Researchers who ‘pivot’ into new fields should not be given a citation penalty

RFK Jr's "MAHA" report came out last week. It misinterpreted data, had broken links to some citations, and cited 7 articles that don't exist. That last one is a hallmark of AI hallucinations. How much of the MAHA report was AI generated? 🤔 www.notus.org/health-scien...

in reply to Eugen Rochko

in reply to It's FOSS

nice idea, but doesn’t work that well on a Raspberry Pi Os sadly (yet at least)

what would be interesting to see is if there's cross-compatibility across the 2.

I love using and supporting FOSS, but PeerTube is difficult to figure out how to use effectively. There is also precious little content. I will check back again in a few months. I might even contribute content (nature videos) in the future.

I just knew this was where we are heading. We do need essay exams, but I would also like to see more project based learning.

They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.

Unless you forget your blue book on exam day. Yeah I was not fully engaged at all times.
But this is the way forward for testing real learning of fundamental knowledge.
A student simply must be able to write it out. Closed book.
in reply to Muse

We took exams in blue books in law school (and the bar exam) - 'cept that my writing is so bad that I used a typewriter. That meant I had to cut up each bluebook into its pages, type on 'em, then staple 'em back together.

Trade Court Strikes Down Trump Tariffs, Threatening His Economic Agenda and Tax Cuts

The U.S. Court of International Trade on Wednesday struck down tariffs imposed on virtually every country by President Donald Trump, ruling that he exceeded the authority granted to him under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

Danke, dass so viele da waren. Danke für euer Interesse und euer Vertrauen!
