Seriously. The first thing you see when you google David Tennant is a borked AI generated picture of *not* David Tennant.

The way Google whiffed on AI while making their flagship product increasingly shit in their attempt to catch up is astounding.

#Vivaldi browser has a fantastic page tiling feature which I have been finding super useful when reading preprints on #bioRxiv, where the tables and figures can often be inconveniently right at the back, away from the relevant text. Also super useful when following links to references 👍

#AcademicLiterature

in reply to Luke Pembleton

@lpryszcz @Psy_Fer_ @Vivaldi i recently switched from Firefox as well - works quite well so far. I will take a look at the tiling feature!
in reply to Frank Aylward

@foaylward @lpryszcz @Psy_Fer_ @Vivaldi take full page screenshots or capturing selections of a page as an image was a feature I always appreciated with Firefox, and now I've found it on #Vivaldi too 🥳

I grow weary of all the Mastodon reply-guys that always feel like they just *have* to lecture you on what you use. So i’m moving my personal fully to Bluesky. I’ll cya there.

bsky.app/profile/tinobeans.bsk…

Until the day it goes down the shitter, I won’t be using this account.

in reply to Liam

Suspending the account because of the actions of a few individuals feels odd. You can always find weirdos on any platform, just in different ways.

By doing so, you're just hurting the Fediverse and making us look bad.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@gamingonlinux I'm sorry, but could you explain what I said wrong?

There are some individuals on Mastodon who grumble about people using BlueSky, but I don't think it's a mainstream opinion.

Because of those weirdos, you're suspending your personal account and saying, "Mastodon has too much constant reply-guy syndrome" on BlueSky. Which gives the impression that Mastodon is a toxic place. Most of us aren't like this. This just hurts the Fediverse's reputation.

in reply to Shatur

@Shatur "you're just hurting the Fediverse and making us look bad"

If you don't see the issue with that, i can't help you, stop it

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Aren't suspending the account here and complaining on BlueSky about being tired of Mastodon users harmful to it?

There’s nothing wrong with using BlueSky. In fact, I think it's better for GoL to be accessible on as many platforms as possible.

But seeing you suspend your personal account here is just bad news for us. I didn't mean to be rude to you.

@breizh @skywalkersHand for now i will read still, but that may not last long due to the terrible community of zealots on here making it pretty miserable to be here any time i mention a service that isn't mastodon

It's also good to see it's a retroactive move where they fix old games too and not like GFWL garbage that just ceased to function with no fixes for the games from its developers. Community had to hack those games to make them work again.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Awesome, now I’ll consider buying those games.

I never understood why you need a launcher on top of Steam/Epic. All the functionality the launcher provides can be bundled up into an SDK and implemented inside the game 🤷‍♂️

Check out my debut in Flaming Hydra, a writer-owned, reader supported co-op newsletter: "Democracy Against Democracy."

in reply to Nathan Schneider

I believe it was Dewey who argued (though he was not the first) that democracy requires a citizenry that has been educated in a set of democratic virtues, including concern for the common good, rational deliberation, and so on. Absent those virtues being the norm, democracy is indeed a dangerous thing! I don’t think we should give up on it, though. We need to become worthy of democracy through embodying the values and behaviors which it requires. Gød wish us luck!
