i would be really interested to see what kind of fucked up websites this change is designed to fix

if you have ever written a website that didn't work on firefox android because it correctly reported the presence of 32-bit ARM CPUs, and it's fixed now that it pretends to be a 64-bit one: how

in reply to Lynnesbian

is this following Apples lead? Pretty sure they've done this for a while as too many devs we're assuming ARM meant mobile. This is why we can't have nice things...

Friendly advice: There is a Mastodon setting where you can group boosts within your timeline so you won’t see the same post getting boosted over and over again.

Go to Mastodon in the browser > Gear icon > Menu icon in upper right > Other > Check "Group boosts in timelines"

(May be slightly different on a desktop, but that's the general idea)

Disclaimer: It's not perfect, but it's something.

Good to know! Since the feature is on by default, it makes me wonder what's going on if people are consistently complaining about seeing the same boosts repeated in their timelines.

Either they're disabling the feature or the feature isn't behaving as expected.

The official Mastodon Android app now has QR codes for sharing profiles.

Tap the icon in the top right to open the QR code scanner. I was a bit concerned it might be hard to find, so we might yet put it somewhere else.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron @brunoamaral Oh yeah, I did not notice that. I think adding a text label might be enough to improve visibility.

It's an unique technique to show the world slowly being unveiled by European exploration. Published by Quin in 1846 we see a world still shrouded in clouds and waiting for illumination. (This map reaches up to 1551 A.D.)
Would love to see a similar map of first nations/native peoples perspective, who had reached the depths of the Amazon and Patagonia, and even islands of the Pacific, without knowledge of Europeans.

If he's full/part BMD, enjoy picking him up while you can, but the cuddles wont stop when he's mahoosive. Our BMD was 52 kg and could put his front paws on my husband's shoulders (hubby is 6ft1!). They love to sit on your feet and lean back into you. Also the minute you put a lead on they pull, being a draught dog. Off lead they will happily stay with you. 💜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

(I used to follow Bunsen & Beaker on Twtr for 🇨🇦 BMD fun.)

Alt: A night photo of a rural landscape, lake and low mountains. Above is the aurora borealis in chartreuse and yellow filling the sky. It looks like a ghostly illustration of a bird in flight, wings extended, with a background of stars and galaxies, light dots in the black.

My boys & I have been slowly making our way through every Studio Ghibli film. Tonight we watched Nausicaä.

It’s a spectacular movie with incredibly timely themes despite being 40 years old. We loved it. And if you follow me here, you may too. #art #film

my girls loved studio Ghibli too. They really tuned in to the gentle pace of the films and the magical characters which flip from being real to fantastic without the blink of an eye. My youngest (now 15) is still increasing her Totoro collection, i think she has about half a dozen soft toys, a bag, a sleeping bag, a blanket and at least a couple of books 😊.

Exactly. The political world and much of society has become zero-sum in its thinking. Some of this is because of crap reality television like Survivor - promoting the screw-the-other-guy mentality and the notion you can 'vote someone off the island.'

In religion, it's manifested as, 'For me to be saved, you must be damned.'

in reply to Muse

It's terrifying seeing young people hate people they don't even know in order to feel righteous. Some of them go on to harm people in their own country for having a coincidental connection with a hated party. You were born in Russia? You once lived in Israel/Palestine? Then you are considered fair game for abuse by some people, without any consideration as to who you are as an individual. No one should be fair game for abuse. Bring in the judicial system if any actual wrong-doing is occuring. Otherwise, in a democratic society we are to accept diversity, even when we don't like another person's positions. Use your freedom of speech, use verifiable information, and use discussion to make the world better.

Mind that inexpensive medium format gear still ends up approaching 1K EUR. Depends on which medium format, of course. 6x4.5 is cheaper than 6x7.

@noir No problem. One more thing, the photo you originally replied to was not taken on a medium format camera, but a 35mm one.

Today's our bi-weekly Future Proof Plays stream, and Gregory is playing Blackwood Crossing. It's turning out to be far more surreal and creepy than I expected, and it has CWs for grief, loss, sibling tension, and maybe jump scares? We aren't sure about the jump scares. Anyway, Gregory is very good at talking about game design, so come join us. 😻 twitch.tv/gregoryaveryweir/

Hey aren't you the guy proposing to open a channel for LibsOfTikTok into the Fedi via Threads?

Do you have a problem with platforming LibsOfTikTok as well?

Funny way of showing it.

FUCK @dasharez0ne, if you have a scrap of dignity and give a fuck about trans people? Spread this far and wide.

Below is a Google Doc discussing how the trans person that was behind
it got chased out by the transphobic asshole running things now. Oh, and how she got cut out of getting almost any money from that highly successful Kickstarter campaign.

They don't deserve your time or dimes. Spread the word everybody, Da Sharez0ne is DONE.
