This Earth Week, we are focusing on what actually reduces e-waste: keeping our tech running longer. Extending the life of your phone or laptop by just a few years can drastically reduce its carbon footprint.
Check out our repairability scores to see which devices are built to last and which ones are built for the landfill:

The end of oil? As fuel shocks cascade, 53 nations gather to plan a fossil fuel phaseout
...
"The routine burning of coal, oil and gas is the primary driver of the climate crisis. The world’s highest court last year made clear nations have obligations to stop burning fossil fuels.
"But fossil fuels have barely been mentioned in 30 years of global climate negotiations, due in part to blocking efforts by big fossil fuel exporters and lobbyists.
"Frustrated by slow progress, a coalition of nations has bypassed global climate talks to discuss how to actually phase out fossil fuels.
"The first of these summits will take place next week. More than 50 nations will gather in Santa Marta, Colombia, to discuss a potential standalone treaty to manage fossil-fuel phaseout while protecting workers and financial systems.
"Colombian Environment Minister Irene Vélez Torres says it comes at the “best possible moment”, as the oil crisis focuses global attention on fossil fuel dependency...

World Curlew Day is intended to raise awareness of the urgent plight of curlews, which are facing severe population declines globally due to habitat loss, climate change, and predation by non-native species like pets.

I'm very happy with my Kobo Libra 2. A big surprise when I got it was that I stopped having insomnia. I used to read books at night on my iPhone (dark mode, low illumination, color adjusted to deduce blue light) and thought it wouldn't affect my sleep. I'd often be awake for a couple of hours during the night, but didn't think it was connected. The day I got my Kobo, the insomnia stopped. E-ink screens rock.
Very few of my books are from the Kobo store. Mostly they're sideloaded using Calibre.

in reply to libramoon • • •Oh I think we do have inalienable rights. Those rights are just not respected. Governments can grant privileges, but not rights. The only thing government can do about rights is either respect them or not. We really shouldn't be using the phrase "legal rights" at all.
This identifies the problem correctly, I think. The problem is the concentration of power. President is a terrible idea. There never should have been Presidents of the US. There also shouldn't be a Senate. Unicameral legislature, and Prime Minister that can be thrown out at any time by a vote of no confidence. Stability be damned. We want freedom.

in reply to libramoon • • •@David I like your thinking. I find, after living abroad, that checks and balances are well worth their while. The main issue is how they are done. At the moment there is a movement in Britain to abolish the House of Lords and replace it with a House of Sortition. The House of Commons would remain.
Having both been a political activist and a policy writer for an Australian political party, I understand that an important part of any politician's job is just administration. This includes advocating for individuals within the politician's electorate. I had a politician advocate on my behalf when my visa to become a resident in Australia was slow in coming. Andrew and I sent a message to our senator and she made sure I could get into the country on time for my own wedding!
So we need people who vote on issues, but we also need people who know how to manage the bureaucracy for their people.
