What are the *technical* steps behind moving a Mastodon account?

I understand how to do it from a user perspective (docs.joinmastodon.org/user/mov…) but what does the new server need to do?

Is it as simple as adding an "aliases" to the webfinger?

#MastodonAPI #ActivityPub

in reply to Terence Eden

The new server advertises the old account in an alsoKnownAs property on the actor. The old server sends out a Move activity with the new actor as the target.

Guten Morgen Fediverse 🙂

Wir kommen ein wenig spät zur Party, aber selbstverständlich zieht auch bei uns ein #plushtodon ein.

Jetzt brauchen wir eure Vorschläge, wie wir es nennen sollen 🤔 / ÖA

One way this election affects me personally is that I could lose my health insurance through the ACA, which has allowed me to be self-employed all these years. For a refresher on what healthcare was like for freelancers pre-ACA, see this autobio comic from 2012. kffhealthnews.org/multimedia/o…

I've had my Medicare Advantage insurance canceled *TWICE* within twelve months because of dispute between the insurer (United Health) and the medical provider - it had nothing to do with me.

So I ended up with pneumonia, a temperature of 104F, and uninsured. I was turned away from urgent care and had to go to the ER as uninsured.

Our US medical system sucks.

in reply to Jen Sorensen

I'm so glad you have a good plan through the ACA. I had to close my small business in 2018 when my husband got laid off and we lost his corporate insurance. When we went to sign up for the ACA, the cheapest plan that didn't cover anything until you hit a deductible was $2600/month with a $14,000 deductible. He couldn't find another job (age discrimination) and I had to go back to the corporate world just for affordable insurance. The ACA is great for a lot of people but it needs a lot of work to be good for everyone. I wish I could just buy into Medicare. But I sure as hell am still voting for Harris even though the ACA kinda ruined my career. Trump definitely wouldn't fix it.

Not the best quality but always nice to see microbial life in the pond. Maybe one is a ciliate with endosymbiotic algae?

Firewall is an excellent metaphor for the situation.

We've blown past every barrier on the path of disaster, and all that's left is to proceed to the disaster.

At this point, the best I can do is pray for the disaster to be over with as quickly as possible.

But what about Cross Play? I want to play with my kids between steamdeck and switch. The wiki said it would be available sometime after 1.4.5 has some patches or something.

Consider showing individual regressions on the time frames before and after the Steam Deck's release, because I'm pretty sure they have very different slopes.

@Muse - Our local professional company, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, used to be filled with refugees from the Royal Shakespeare Company; they were never mic-ed, they knew how to project their voices, even if that involved a lot of spitting. Younger actors seem to have less skill with voice articulation and projection - and thus need to be mic-ed and backed by a good sound reinforcement system run by someone who knows their stuff.

That lack of skill of articulation and projection seems to have hit TV and movies hard, and badly. We are surprised at how many new TV shows we have to pause and go back to try to understand what was said, even to the point of turning on captioning. It's rather difficult to forgive TV/film people for poor capture of comprehensible voice - it's rather a sign that the director's attention is more on the scenery than on the actors or the story.

My lemons are a little orange in colour. This photo makes them look even more orangey. We live on the side of a hill, and you can see the solar panels on our roof peaking under the branches.

I'm posting this because the flowers right now are making the entire property smell gorgeous! So sweet! So fresh! The bees seem to think so as well!

@Karl Auerbach I have pots of alpine strawberries that I placed on either side of the front door. They look festive and welcoming the way the pour over the sides of the white ceramic. Plus their tiny berries pack a punch! I only get a hand full at a time, but put them on breakfast cereal now and again for a treat!
