Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle: Corporate Gaslighting
“Reduce, reuse, recycle.” For more than 50 years, those three Rs have been the world’s go-to environmental mantra.
On the face of it, the three Rs sound like an empowering call for each of us to play our part for the planet. However, the individualist approach behind the slogan has come in for increasing criticism by climate change activists.
I am one of them. As a scholar-activist who has spent over 16 years working with climate justice movements, I have studied how movements are challenging the individualistic focus to climate change – an approach that is heavily promoted by corporate public relations campaigns.
‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ is corporate gaslighting – the real change must come from the fossil fuel industry
Recycling and cutting personal waste isn’t enough. Polluters must be regulated, and reparations paid by companies that have harmed the environment. The Conversation

I wanted to illuminate a piece of art. So I patched together some LEDs and an esp32.
My girlfriend forgets to water her plants. So I built a detector with an esp and a sensor, that reminds her. And her plants live happily.
My daughter loves sloths, so I built the @hourlyslothbot together with her, so she can share her passion.
This all started with me trying Linux I got on a bunch of CDs at a flea market as a child.
Linux empowered me to decide about my digital life and the tools I want to use. If there is no solution, I like, I can build one.
So I'm very grateful I could experience Linux so early in my life and grow to the person I am now.
