@Friendica Support Friendica currently comes with two themes: frio and vier with frio being the default.

The theme selection does not indicate that. What are others thinking? Would it make sense to add a default tag to frio so that fact is communicated to users?

github.com/friendica/friendicaโ€ฆ

in reply to Wilhelm

@Wilhelm If it was just me, I would do away with vier and the cumbersome theme system, but I know @Tobias is still a fervent vier user.
in reply to Hypolite Petovan

@Tobias Had you tried the new frio v1.0? What were your thoughts?

Clearly themes are a question of personal taste and arguing about them is very difficult. I really don't want to get into an opinion war about personal preferences as that will lead nowhere. But if tobias or other vier users could share, what aspects they prefer about vier over frio, maybe there is something to learn / takeaway / improve about frio.

I want to also add 2 cents about UI changes which affect us all and how many (me included) perceive them: e.g. it's so funny with the changes in macOS. When they first hit you, they sometimes look ridiculous. And next it's fascinating how quickly I get used to altered UI and my brain accepts the change as nice and normal after 14 days of usage and getting used to.

Serious question: Do you guys think it's worth it making a tumblr nowadays?

What else am I going to use to share my work? Facebook? Hell naw. Insta? Twitter? Deviantart?
I feel like other than Tumblr and Pinterest there's not much of a choice.

TikTok absolutely would be overbearing for artists, it's for "content creators" and it's audience is largely those who consume said content. To try to get attention you'd have to be constantly doing things that aren't art.
This entry was edited (3 years ago)
in reply to i'm

@angelar I don't even consider tik tok a possibility for visual artists at least.

I want to go back to youtube by january, but it will be more of a production diary, show and tell kind of thing than anything else.

Oil Set to Become as Obsolete as Landlines, Experts Warn
But โ€œif Canada and other wealthy countries transition our energy systems urgently and deliver money for vulnerable countries to do the same, we can keep the 1.5ยฐC goal alive,โ€ Segal says.
in reply to Muse

I would agree with you @Karl Auerbach. Perhaps not the best analogy. Interesting article, though!
in reply to Muse

Things that are no longer mainstream rarely disappear completely - not only is there still a valid role for landlines, but there will no doubt still be a role for a small amount of oil in certain applications where there is really no good alternative. But as the demand and profit fall rather than rise, the appeal to investors will certainly decline precipitously.

I Made That Bitch Famous

In Donald Trumpโ€™s 2011 book Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again, the president-to-be made an astonishing claim: Lady Gaga likely owed her international fame to none other thanโ€ฆDonald Trump. โ€œShe became a big star and maybe she became a star because I put her on the Miss Universe pageant,โ€ he wrote. โ€œItโ€™s very possible, who knows what would have happened without it, because she caused a sensation.โ€

The problem goes beyond Trump, of course. Women, especially women of color, are routinely denied credit for their ideas, creativity, genius, and success (not to mention theyโ€™re paid less than men for full-time work). So, in honor of Womenโ€™s History Month, Iโ€™ve put together this woefully incomplete timeline of the lowlights:

Hey everyone,

I'm Haruko and I'm an independent CG artist and Creative Director working in product visualization and illustrative editorial work.

I use Cinema 4D, Zbrush, Redshift and very occasionally Octane. Curious to see what others are up to in the space!

I just started dabbling in food sculpting in Zbrush, which is my newest obsession when I'm not on client work!

Feel free to check out my work on IG: instagram.com/harukohayakawa/

Architecture was my career choice as a teen. I loved designing and drafting the plans. And I was good at it, winning awards at the Texas state level all four years of high school.

I didn't study #architecture in college because they were moving away from #drafting on paper (what I loved) to AutoCAD. Ironically, I've been in tech since 1998. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธโค๏ธ

Weirdly satisfying to see @internetarchive's Wayback Machine checking, and attempting to archive, everything I ever tweeted, including every link in every tweet.

We need, in the words of Noah Feinstein, to make sure that everyone is at least a competent outsider to science: someone who has "learned to recognize the moments when science has some bearing on their needs and interests and to interact with sources of scientific expertise in ways that help them achieve their own goals." onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10โ€ฆ
in reply to Carl T. Bergstrom

My argument, at its core, is that to do that, we need to teach people why science deserves their trust โ€“ and this requires teaching how science works as a social institution. I've written about this in brief in a Science American article: scientificamerican.com/articleโ€ฆ
