Outpost Moved its Servers to the E.U.
A few weeks ago, Outpost migrated its servers, including our databases, to Amsterdam, away from servers in the U.S. So now all member publishers' data, servers and CTA infrastructure are hosted there...
We made the move because well, ((WAVES HANDS WILDLY AROUND)), it seems like a prudent step. Prudent being the word of the day here.
Just to be clear, Outpost has never had a data request, subpoena or National Security Letter dropped on us for our data or any member publisher's data.
But we still thought this was a prudent step given the current political environment...

Our possums are a problem. Could Selena Gomez be the solution?
Last year, American pop star, actor and beauty mogul Selena Gomez launched a surprising new expansion of her empire: Oreos. The chocolate and cinnamon limited-edition creme cookies, described as “flavour-forward and horchata-inspired”, popped up in hypnotic displays in supermarkets across the country in July, complete with a giant rotating cookie that simply read “Oreo Selena Gomez”. The promotional material claimed the cookies were “great for movie night, and make wonderful birthday treats and music awards watch party snacks”.
What neither Selena Gomez nor Big Oreo could ever have anticipated is that these cookies, which feature music-themed designs including “Selena in the Studio” and “Play Your Heart Out”, would become a crucial weapon in the war against one of Aotearoa’s most infamous pests.

"The bottom line is this: You write in order to change the world, knowing perfectly well that you probably can’t, but also knowing that literature is indispensable to the world. The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way people look at reality, then you can change it… If there is no moral question, there is no reason to write. I’m an old-fashioned writer and, despite the odds, I want to change the world."

Well, I have now been quoted calling SpaceX "fuckweasels" in a real publication by real journalists: au.pcmag.com/ai/116598/spacex-…
I guess I am proud of myself? (They are, indeed, fuckweasels, for their complete lack of care for the atmosphere that we all depend on, as well as not caring about Kessler Syndrome, or light pollution, or smashing people on the ground...)

Metaverse is what happens when a techbro is so ignorant (but I'm being redundant), that they don't realize video games already exist.
And I mean ... not just Second Life, although that's the most funny comparison. Any random video game's lobby like ... already did all this stuff and made Meta look so primitive and "Huh?"
Check out those whiskers! This little harbour seal was picked up by my team in October. Found on a beach with a life threatening condition (mouth rot), he was uplifted and taken to a sanctuary for rehabilitation.
He has a special place in my heart as this was my first rescue. 10/10 perfect gentleman, didn't fight/bite me!
He was recently released into the wild, and is out there somewhere living his best life 🦭

I don't use much but bought some last year and found it very good. I'm still using it. So perhaps a bad batch? Even good manufacturers have off-days.
I think it's worth writing to them and complaining – they are a small(ish) company who take pride in their product so I'd say they might try to make amends.

I have to admit that I do see the they/them pronouns being discussed in the industry as only being, and exclusively being, for non-binary identities - without actually realising that this isn’t the case. It’s like a blinkered way of thinking and not fully understanding that there are so many different ways of being.
Cis people have an unfortunate tendency to subconsciously treat Nonbinary as a kind of... third box with some level of uniformity which is the exact opposite of what nonbinary actually is. It's why I typically refuse classification rather than label myself as nonbinary, I need to give people pause, make them uncertain how exactly to deal with me.
Also yes you do not need to use the pronouns normally associated with your gender identity even if you don't feel like it.
I think He/Him lesbians are a good example of this. As far as I'm aware they still fully or mostly identify as women, but choose to use other pronouns purely by preference. (Some may unknowingly be transmascs but that's another discussion entirely)

Early decav progress, wrote some custom draw_icn routines to speed up UFX font rendering. Now it's roughly the same speed to render text using UF2 fonts directly on the framebuffer or using the PlayDate native system font.
But HOLD ON, when actually running this on the console, turns out drawing UFX fonts is MUCH FASTER than then system one, about 7-8x (!) for UF2 in this case.
