New Steam Beta can run the Linux client inside a container with 64bit gamingonlinux.com/2026/03/new-…

@nextcloud Hello. I’m working with an immigrant organizing group that wants to have access to files/messaging on servers outside of US jurisdiction. We looked into NextCloud, but it’s a little confusing… can we do that on the free level? If so, how many users and what functions/applications are available?
in reply to Jeremy le fou

hey there! There are options to use Nextcloud with a provider, including free simple sign-up options: nextcloud.com/sign-up/

You can find the details about the offers by each provider via link. If you need more storage and users, you will need to use paid hosting or host Nextcloud yourself.

Dear #NextCloud

Is there any way to prevent these system tag messages from making Activity useless? 😅

hey there! Please post your question here: help.nextcloud.com/

The forum is the best place to get help with using our apps, from Nextcloud community and developers. Good luck!

I couldn't be more excited to announce something I've been working on for a long time -

Please welcome Belltower House Artist Residency, a multidisciplinary gift of time in my erstwhile home in southern New Mexico, now accepting applications for 2026.

in reply to everest

This home has been such a gift to me over the years, and I'm so excited to see it serve as a creative refuge for others. I find living and working here to be productive, peaceful, and deeply affirming.
in reply to everest

Applications are being accepted for both spring and fall 2026, but the spring sessions are very soon- so we're likely going to keep it word of mouth / friends of friends as we get off the ground. Please share with those who you think might benefit from the space and time. belltowerhouse.org/

An unexpected side-effect of AI is seeing so many right-wing chuds admitting to having no interiority.

They're falling over themselves boasting about being NPCs.

You can take advantage of the flexibility of an AppImage by making it the default app.

appimage flexibility is perfect to fold it into trash bin where it belongs 😇

Vercel wants to train on your code!! This is so infuriating.

You need to opt out by March 31st or they will use your repos as training data. All hobby plans are opted in by default.

RE: fosstodon.org/@hmiron/11625412…

You shouldn’t put up with Vercel using YOUR code as AI training. Time to move to better alternatives.

Reminder: Not every hosting company has a CEO that cozies up to a genocidal war criminal, but Vercel does 🙃

GASSED-UP GAMERS: see the device that's shooting CHEMICALS up to 73X WORSE THAN A "VAPE" into YOUR children's noses

parents are steamed: first they called your kids "fatty fatty no parents". now, under the leadership of kier starmer, they're poisoning them with brain-damaging fumes. when will ofcom turn the shutoff valve?

That's absolutely normal in Taiwan, independent of pandemics.

@Aladár Mézga I know. We have many people originally from Hong Kong who migrated here before Hong Kong was "given back" to China. They always wear masks for the slightest colds, flus, or hayfever. It's good practice!

In the first years I moved to Austalia the Federal government passed a law with support from both Labor and Liberal politicians which limited truth in advertising laws such that they did not apply to political speech. This was used in the upcoming election to misrepresent small parties and take their seats.

Is this Democracy? The Welsh have the right idea!

Law to make it illegal to lie in Welsh elections passed

The Welsh Parliament has passed a law to make it illegal for candidates to lie during Senedd elections.

The new law paves the way for a new criminal offence to make false or misleading statements of fact to help an election candidate...

The bill also establishes a recall system, giving the public the opportunity to kick out politicians who have misbehaved from the Welsh Parliament in between elections.

GOOGLE STALKING YOU WITH YOUR BIOMETRICS IS THE SCAM

giving up my biometric "data" as the price of sideloading, makes android ransomware at best. at its worst, it’s a new form of indentured servitude for the privilege of using an android phone controlled by Google.

YOUR BIOMETRICS MAKE YOU A HOSTAGE OF THE COMPANY DEMANDING THEM

do you see now why the USMIL’s Total Information Awareness project doesn't exist anymore? instead we got corporate “social media” doing the dirty work.

Biometrics are stored locally on the devices. I'm not sure if I understand your point about making users hostage. Can you elaborate?

Google has news on what you will need to do for still being able to sideload apps:

* enable developer options
* confirm that you are not tricked
* restart phone and re-authenticate
* wait one day
* confirm with biometrics that you know what you are doing
* decide if you only want unrestricted installs for 1 week or forever
* confirm that you accept the risks
* enjoy the few apps that still have developers motivated to develop for a user-base willing to put up with this

I'd love it if those animations were looping.

happy you like these 😀 they are, but there's a brief pause between each animation cycles, otherwise some monsters just look a bit too twitch.

🇦🇹 Nextcloud Enterprise Day Vienna 2026 is just around the corner!

Made something this morning with my hands. Something simple. Something human. Something pure and powerful. Something I wholeheartedly own.
Thanks to some inspiration and guides from @rek and @neauoire
Did my own take on it and figured it out.
In those 20 minutes or so that it took to put it together my mind was clear. Spirits were high.
Cutting the plies between the pages gave me a strong dose of nostalgia back in school when our textbooks sometimes had pages still together and got missed in the separation process. We would tear them ourselves with our rulers. The sound of the paper tearing, the jagged edge of the page. The little paper dust left on the table. These are the things that bring me calm and happiness.

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

it was more meditative and engaging than i expected. definitely a fun lil arts and crafts activity that i will for sure do more of. this was just a quick poc with what i had lying around. a great alternative for that bone fold thing would be just a guitar pick, that's what i used and it worked great.

Friend also suggested letter press when i told him about it which then lead me to lino pressing which i will definitely explore as well 🙂

always fun to find new handcrafting hobbies

I ran Arch for years, but eventually I got tired of having to periodically spend hours figuring out how to fix a broken update or a busted AUR package.

I've since moved on to LMDE7 because I just want my computer to "work" - I don't want to have to work extra hard to make that happen. Sorry Arch!

haven't had a broken systems update on arch in 5 years. And back then I was a noob and had to wipe and try again xD
