I'd love it if those animations were looping.
in reply to rostiger

happy you like these 😀 they are, but there's a brief pause between each animation cycles, otherwise some monsters just look a bit too twitch.

So another hypoctrit system @eu_os@eupolicy.social

heavily use US infrastructure for their "sovereign" theory.

they have nothing to show, they have build nothing that work.

avoid those liar that do NOTHING to help sovereignty.

Support real team that do real work like @nextcloud

not liar that try to take money to do nothing.

if i can make one suggestion.

i met some company that asked us to set some kind of vpn because they where longing to allow acces to them only to their nextcloud (also recommended by us).

so if one day you wonder what you can implement, adding a sort of server that allow mobile device to make nat traversing if they are allowed can be a good idea for Small and medium company + normal users.

and since it's a "meet up service" but not a relay it will not impact too much your bandwidt.

Made something this morning with my hands. Something simple. Something human. Something pure and powerful. Something I wholeheartedly own.
Thanks to some inspiration and guides from @rek and @neauoire
Did my own take on it and figured it out.
In those 20 minutes or so that it took to put it together my mind was clear. Spirits were high.
Cutting the plies between the pages gave me a strong dose of nostalgia back in school when our textbooks sometimes had pages still together and got missed in the separation process. We would tear them ourselves with our rulers. The sound of the paper tearing, the jagged edge of the page. The little paper dust left on the table. These are the things that bring me calm and happiness.

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

it was more meditative and engaging than i expected. definitely a fun lil arts and crafts activity that i will for sure do more of. this was just a quick poc with what i had lying around. a great alternative for that bone fold thing would be just a guitar pick, that's what i used and it worked great.

Friend also suggested letter press when i told him about it which then lead me to lino pressing which i will definitely explore as well 🙂

always fun to find new handcrafting hobbies

I ran Arch for years, but eventually I got tired of having to periodically spend hours figuring out how to fix a broken update or a busted AUR package.

I've since moved on to LMDE7 because I just want my computer to "work" - I don't want to have to work extra hard to make that happen. Sorry Arch!

haven't had a broken systems update on arch in 5 years. And back then I was a noob and had to wipe and try again xD

Mac users that also use Android, how do you transfer files and such? No MPT on the Mac that I can tell and the app I've tried, OpenMTP, is an Elektron app that I don't feel like dealing with.

It should work exactly the same way for any OS. You transfer through browser and only need to be on the same WiFi. It's a brilliant piece of software.

Many #BigTech platforms:

Are conversations used for training by default and is opt-out genuine or buried? How long is data retained and under what legal jurisdiction? What happens to your data if the company is acquired?
in reply to bayo

Hi there!

Is your question about AI tools in Nextcloud? If yes: we are not an AI provider, and everything depends on the model or service you are using with Assistant.

On our end, we let people choose, and rank supported models exactly by those parameters: training data availability, open source code, ability to host locally. And you can avoid setting up AI at all, if you don't want it in your platform.

While nobody should use the Opera browser it is nice that more companies are supporting Linux and these kinds of things also makes Linux look more legitimate as a gaming option.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

yeah, Opera isn't exactly what a privacy-conscious person would use, but Linux is freedom and freedom mean options.

And also, privacy is a spectrum, if Opera GX being available on Linux means more people will jump ship, then that's a big win.

Or better yet, a downloadable database that I could work with.

Outpost Moved its Servers to the E.U.

A few weeks ago, Outpost migrated its servers, including our databases, to Amsterdam, away from servers in the U.S. So now all member publishers' data, servers and CTA infrastructure are hosted there...

We made the move because well, ((WAVES HANDS WILDLY AROUND)), it seems like a prudent step. Prudent being the word of the day here.

Just to be clear, Outpost has never had a data request, subpoena or National Security Letter dropped on us for our data or any member publisher's data.

But we still thought this was a prudent step given the current political environment...

you could also have moves feed into each other if theyre different like a combo, so its got more synergy to alternate them and the effect can be greater than individual moves powers

what if enemies counter player moves (either by behaviour or by which enemies show up) relative to how often you use them? So if you use a move all the time, your enemies always block against it. it's strong, but not useful until the enemies don't know it's coming.

Our possums are a problem. Could Selena Gomez be the solution?

possum and gomez

Last year, American pop star, actor and beauty mogul Selena Gomez launched a surprising new expansion of her empire: Oreos. The chocolate and cinnamon limited-edition creme cookies, described as “flavour-forward and horchata-inspired”, popped up in hypnotic displays in supermarkets across the country in July, complete with a giant rotating cookie that simply read “Oreo Selena Gomez”. The promotional material claimed the cookies were “great for movie night, and make wonderful birthday treats and music awards watch party snacks”.

What neither Selena Gomez nor Big Oreo could ever have anticipated is that these cookies, which feature music-themed designs including “Selena in the Studio” and “Play Your Heart Out”, would become a crucial weapon in the war against one of Aotearoa’s most infamous pests.

in reply to Muse

“People have tried to use Tim Tams in the past, but they are really expensive. Oreos are quite a bit cheaper, and they actually stand up to the rain quite well too, which is a little disconcerting.”

"The bottom line is this: You write in order to change the world, knowing perfectly well that you probably can’t, but also knowing that literature is indispensable to the world. The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way people look at reality, then you can change it… If there is no moral question, there is no reason to write. I’m an old-fashioned writer and, despite the odds, I want to change the world."

new from me: What is the purpose of protocols?

connectedplaces.online/the-pur…

in reply to Nathan Schneider

Just read. This is great, @LaurensHof!

In my forthcoming protocol book, I explicitly define protocols as *not meaning*, which is consistent with the pattern you identify. Meaning begins where protocols end.

This also extends the notion of power vacuums that I develop a bit in ch. 1 of Governable Spaces. And I think in ch. 4 I make clear that the fediverse does not address these but replicates implicit feudalism (which is not quite a vacuum but a specific theory of governance embedded in software like Mastodon).

Thank you for further making the case for why we need real governance design for a truly decentralized social.
