I'm seeing a lot of talk about #Pixelfed this week. Many regard it as a viable alternative for Instagram.

But it also works very nicely for a graphic art portfolio site, which is closer to how I'm using mine:

For this, the "Collections" feature is very nice. I have collections for "Tests", "Stills", "Characters", and "Design", and I can add more.

And there's a "Portfolio" view, accessible from my profile.

More restful than a site always pushing stuff on you!

It would also be nice to not be forced by Nextcloud onto a centralized, proprietary, monopoly surveillance platform to see them.

Peertube is a thing. So is Pixelfed. Heck, even on Mastodon, short videos are a thing.

Considering setting up my own #Pixelfed instance.
I have been using Mastodon to occasionally post some of my #photography but I don't like how it is mixed up with my other non-photography content. It would like to have a space dedicated to photography.

There seems to be a very high concentration on a few Pixelfed instances anyway so I guess it won't hurt to add anothe one?

Any followers that are using Pixelfed or interested in joining?

Activitypub or Atproto ... one item that both Mastodon have in common with Bluesky is amount of "spam" links and accounts boosting those "spammy" accounts

Several "award winning art / photo" profiles I saw had 5 or more links including their pinned post

Win goes to Bluesky since they seem to have better control of that ... for now

This, to me, is absolutely key. Many of the things that made Twitter, Twitter, came from the developer ecosystem - having a vibrant ecosystem around #ActivityPub, #MastodonAPI and #Pixelfed and others can be instrumental for future growth and diversification of the communities.

Do you want to display a Mastodon account's public posts filtered by hashtag?

There's a way to do it using their profile page's web address:

1. Go to the account's original page on the web (more info: fedi.tips/what-are-original-pa…)
2. Add /tagged/(hashtag, but without the #) on the end of the original page's web address

So, for example, if you wanted to see posts on my account tagged with #Pixelfed the address would be:
