Tell me again how there was nothing wrong with Plasma's edit mode, I feel vindicated

this is why we need more "X YouTuber tries Y Linux thing".

Just like when LTT did the Linux Challenge, things progress fast whenever that happens.

I just discovered the panel colorizer widget, thought might suggest you to try it out if you want even more theming options on a panel.

I agree though, the way settings for both the panel settings and widgets settings is clunky, I dislike how there is a state where you can be editing widgets and not the panel, like just show me all the options when I enter edit mode on the panel.

Do a photo search for "Wyntoon".

Great, Brodie, Rudra is really an amazing guy! I also already have him invited to the conference I have organized, the #OpportunityOpenSource in Mandi, India, and met him on many other conferences, #DebConf, #FOSDEM, #UbuntuSummit, ...

Especially #blendOS is a great concept, sanboxing classic packages on-the-go ...

And for those who want to watch Brodie's video, here is a working link to it:

It happens in Discord, Twitter, Mastodon...everywhere. So tiring to remove them all, and constantly tell people to ask for support / questions in public.

The iPod touch was the first Apple product I bought with my own money in 2010. While there are many things I could say, I’ll just mention how cool these Flash-based web ads were for it.

Activitypub or Atproto ... one item that both Mastodon have in common with Bluesky is amount of "spam" links and accounts boosting those "spammy" accounts

Several "award winning art / photo" profiles I saw had 5 or more links including their pinned post

Win goes to Bluesky since they seem to have better control of that ... for now

With everything in the screenshot redacted out it's difficult for me to judge if there's even anything wrong there or it's just a photographer with a shop selling prints.

@Gargron @maikel @GPJohnston I didn't want to single out the person but will send the link to you via DM

I understand some want to sell their work but how many links do they need? Each post need more links 😂

Unrelated ... how many ad popups or ads shown on one page is enough? 😂 😜

"Anthony (Tony) Epstein, co-discoverer of the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), was the founding father of research into the part that viruses play in the development of human cancers. Today, seven types of viral infection — more than one of which can be prevented by vaccination — are known to cause specific cancers in people. Collectively, virus-associated tumours account for up to 15% of cancer cases globally each year. Yet, when Epstein began his research in the early 1960s, the concept of a link between viruses and human cancer was deeply unfashionable. Epstein’s discovery has had an enormous influence on the direction of cancer research, from underlying mechanisms to new prospects for prevention."

An important distinction is slowly being uncovered about the definition of the term "fediverse." Who is it that gets to decide what this place is? How are we being represented? These are not easy questions to answer and if we don't do a better job describing ourselves, then the job will get done for us by people who don't understand the underlying values we hold. #fediverse #meta #threads

Looking forward to the release 👌

Just FYI, with Threads becoming part of the Fediverse, both this account and the one on Threads (threads.net/@gaming0nlinux) will stick.

I think giving people the option to directly follow on either platform is the best bet. Options are nice right?

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Hm I dont know. In the long run a third path might be to have an own fedi instance running on the gaming on linux infra and push to threads and the fedi.

Like @news@gamingonlinux.com that serves both with just the same account and at best the comments of the social media posting are shared with the comments on the GoL site.

I mean thats what the fediverse is all about - not to copy things all over the place, but post them once and find+react to them everywhere. :blobcatgooglyfingerguns:

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

It's not like you need to manage anything more then you do right now. I dont say you should set up a mastodon server 😁
For example we have wordpress for now that just can act as fediverse instance and do essentially this and I imagine the services that provide this functionality to grow, once threads and tumblr are able to receive content from the fediverse.
in reply to Fabian【ファビアン】🏳️‍🌈

@fabiscafe GOL is entirely custom code, we cannot just add a plugin, it takes research and implementation and really offers very little over just posting to Mastodon
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I do understand your point. However I dont know why you bring up mastodon now.
What I say is that "in future" (that is not right now for obvios reasons) there might be an opportunity to have an option to push to a lot more services via just one fediverse account. :blobcatgooglyfingerguns:
in reply to Fabian【ファビアン】🏳️‍🌈

@fabiscafe that is exactly what is possible now, anyone on the fedi that doesn't block mastodon social can follow directly here, right now, there's really almost no gain from hooking up the website directly
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

In the future the fediverse also includes threads, tumblr and probably even more that can be served just from a fediverse account.
This is not possible right now. Threads is currently only read-only from this side and tumblr not even integrated at all.

Did you know that #Germans have a LOT of #superstitions about #bread?

In the olden days, when bread was baked at home, bad luck would seep into the bread when one cursed while baking.

And if the loaf would be placed over the table's edge, sickness would soon enter the house.

A loaf placed upside down would sway, because the poor souls would try to turn it, & if the head of the house cut the bread crookedly, then he had just lied...

#mythology #tradition #Germany

in reply to mythologyandhistory

haha yeah that's the catch 😀

But no, you can make a soda bread (a traditional unyeasted bread) or offer the bread that failed to rise, but who knows what they'll think of that?

Putting all of my federated Threads accounts into a Mastodon list. And just like that, one of the benefits of Threads supporting the Fediverse is happening in real-time.

I now can view them all in one Mastodon list view TODAY, or add them to multiple lists TODAY, even while lists are a feature not yet here on Threads.

Fediverse Threads support for the win.
