Just some little woodsy things from the north coast. One of the reasons I like that area so much is just how much growth there is everywhere – fungus popping out of everything, trees growing improbably, little happy bugs and such (and, conversely, how hard it was to keep my walls mold-free when I lived there). I was considering adding this as a feature to my gallery tool, but then I thought it might be even cooler to have a public list hosted somewhere in a repo where people could add their gallery links via pull requests. I would add an option to the generator that pulls the list and adds it to the gallery every time a picture is added. This way, the list would automatically stay updated. Any thoughts?

in the ideal world, the filenames would be in unix-epoch so I could only look for a single line per post. But I know this isn't ideal - I don't like it either, some people use semantic file names, or tags, which makes more sense for accessibility.
But! As long as the feed has <link>direct://url.to.image and <pubDate>(that's rss valid) That's fine.
Also if pubDate was in UTC-0, I wouldn't have to do magemathical formulas :')

No, no, this book is like a .. early "Learning X for idiots", the author says you don't need to rely on a language's high priests to learn how to do any one thing, the language will enable the average cretin to get where they want to go.
@lritter Relative to 1984 it might be accurate, however. Like BASIC is not really that easy. It's easy to learn but that's not the same as it being easy to do things in.
I have both, but I meant to share this segment when the guest says none of the standard programming languages are appropriate for the end user, not even BASIC.
@mcc the key is datalog. i saw an inkscape in there, a game engine, a database system, the important bit is flattened composition, and a visualizable approach. hard to explain. i go entirely by intuition.
forth shares a weird attribute I also see in scheme: It allows for neat high level DSLs and very abstract code and it's clear that's the intention of the language, but the fundamentals are in some ways even lower level than C
it has "spatiality" which fires a part of my brain that only some 2D cellular automata do, which I find quite interesting from a UX perspective since it's usually not something that we content with in most programming languages.

I've been listening to CD's more in my car and am trying to be more intentional about listening to artists recommended by friends rather than relying on algorithmically generated radios when streaming. It occurred to me today that similar to a book site like Bookwyrm, I could use MusicBrainz to get metadata and use CritiqueBrainz to leave small ratings and reviews that will give me an outlet for being more opinionated about the music I listen to. I recently helped fix a record player at a Repair Cafe and realized that they are super simple inside. They had purchased it for $1. I definitely want to track down a cheap vinyl player now so I can expand my physical library into vinyls, not just CD's. The CD's will satisfy me for now. I've been swapping CD's with my partner's dad, who I share a lot of music taste with.

For those wanting boot to GUI there are alternatives such as SDDM.
FreeBSD 15 installed KDE without startx, had to install xinit to fix that. Happy now 😁
