I've just ended automatic billing for my @zotero storage account. I started exceeding an affordable tier and moved my data to a self-hosted Nextcloud server via WebDAV.
I'm so grateful for this amazing service that enables me to have this kind of freedom. We just had a workshop to teach out grad students Zotero this month. I have been proud to pay for storage, and I will continue to advocate for and promote this banner example of what academic tech should always be.
