Tonight at 19:00 I'll be sharing a guest mix I put together for Calabash on Mondo Radio. It's a mix with a general theme of black artists making electronic and experimental music, which informed my motivations behind starting/running @algoafrofutures

I'm running a 2-day workshop in Manorhamilton, Ireland on sensors and systems for art. The technical process will be to create a flow from human-> sensor-> controller-> microcomputer-> screen.

On the theory side, I'll be presenting an overview of FLOSS/open source technologies and their benefits to artists.

Hi @ephemeral
This looks very interesting but Ireland is a bit far for me. I like making sensors too: static.mamot.fr/media_attachme…

@vertenote Nice. The video doesn't load for me but just had a look on your page here.

We probably won't get around to making sensors, but will definitely explore a range of the ones that exist.

The neural networks used in machine learning are loosely based on how the human brain works. As if the human brain was the only intelligence worth using to think up technologies.

I'm building an #AI with a linked database structure based on a lichen's symbiotic being. Why? Who knows...I guess I just want to try. I like the possibility of magic.

Whole bunches of songs from the 60s I discovered much later. They were a little before my time. I was in grade school.

So much poetry in much of it. I don't think young people today are incapable of this. I just don't think the poetic ones get sufficient support to be heard.

Should I be concerned that Trend is flagging the official Mastodon app on Android as suspect? Or is it just Trend being a goofball again? #mastodon #android #malware #trendmicro #security

Mastodon for Android checks the user's clipboard for the presence of an invite link on the welcome screen for the purpose of displaying a "Join with invite link" button when appropriate.

Remember when #LimeWire was cool?

Yeah, this them now 🤮

in reply to Ren

They still exist?

Actually that's not Limewire by the looks of it, so it seems like the name is being reused against the wishes of the original founder.

i would be really interested to see what kind of fucked up websites this change is designed to fix

if you have ever written a website that didn't work on firefox android because it correctly reported the presence of 32-bit ARM CPUs, and it's fixed now that it pretends to be a 64-bit one: how

in reply to Lynnesbian

is this following Apples lead? Pretty sure they've done this for a while as too many devs we're assuming ARM meant mobile. This is why we can't have nice things...

Friendly advice: There is a Mastodon setting where you can group boosts within your timeline so you won’t see the same post getting boosted over and over again.

Go to Mastodon in the browser > Gear icon > Menu icon in upper right > Other > Check "Group boosts in timelines"

(May be slightly different on a desktop, but that's the general idea)

Disclaimer: It's not perfect, but it's something.

in reply to Eugen Rochko

Good to know! Since the feature is on by default, it makes me wonder what's going on if people are consistently complaining about seeing the same boosts repeated in their timelines.

Either they're disabling the feature or the feature isn't behaving as expected.

The official Mastodon Android app now has QR codes for sharing profiles.

Full changelog: github.com/mastodon/mastodon-a…

#mastodon #update

in reply to Stefan Bohacek

Tap the icon in the top right to open the QR code scanner. I was a bit concerned it might be hard to find, so we might yet put it somewhere else.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron @brunoamaral Oh yeah, I did not notice that. I think adding a text label might be enough to improve visibility.

It's an unique technique to show the world slowly being unveiled by European exploration. Published by Quin in 1846 we see a world still shrouded in clouds and waiting for illumination. (This map reaches up to 1551 A.D.)
Would love to see a similar map of first nations/native peoples perspective, who had reached the depths of the Amazon and Patagonia, and even islands of the Pacific, without knowledge of Europeans.

If he's full/part BMD, enjoy picking him up while you can, but the cuddles wont stop when he's mahoosive. Our BMD was 52 kg and could put his front paws on my husband's shoulders (hubby is 6ft1!). They love to sit on your feet and lean back into you. Also the minute you put a lead on they pull, being a draught dog. Off lead they will happily stay with you. 💜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
