China, EEUU y Europa dominan mercado de vehículos eléctricos; contaminación persiste

Beautiful stuff: "It’s not really enjoyable to make music now… it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument... I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of time they spend making music."

This and the Google product manager for the Pixel image manipulation tools saying you have to "clean up" your photos (remove people, erase incidental objects, change lighting) so that the image records the "true memory" of the moment (meaning, of course, the false memory of it).

Additionally, if someone wants to install multiple pieces of software at once, they can go on packagepicker.co and pick up what they want from the limited pool, the site will then generate a single command to run on the terminal (obligatory disclaimer to always be cautious of random scripts on the internet)

It's conceptually similar to Ninite on Windows

I don't understand the outrage. On-device speech-to-text, text-to-speech and translation are very useful. They are 100% private, unlike Google Translate and other proprietary on-line services.

Interesting news for Mastodon.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I tried #GemRB a couple of years ago but got the impression that it still wasn't a good experience, but still a curious experiment.

The worst part was how unstable it was, causing frequent crashes more often than the original game engines. This would be one of the most desirable traits, improved stability and crash management like you get with #OpenMW (The Morrowind open source engine project).

Has it gotten better? I can't seem to find any recent gameplay or reviews of it.

I found his Instagram, he tags his uploads with "AI artwork" and "generative art", so definitely AI-generated. Anyhow, a disclaimer would've sufficed.

I feel like if I accomplish nothing else in life, I at least manage to get a few students a year to use password managers!

I personally use KeePass, which if combined with cloud storage (I use Nexcloud via @mayfirst) gets you the convenience of a cloud service without any company holding your keys.

On my Windows 10 machine, I can switch the audio output device by clicking on the speaker icon in the bottom right. It brings up a list. This list contains eight (8) items, only two of which I frequently use, and some of which relate to software programs I no longer use at all.The list can only show four at a time. The two I use ("LEN" and "LG") are at opposite ends of the list, so I have to scroll every time.

Is there a way to reorder this list, and/or to rename the devices more helpfully?

in reply to mcc

I don’t know about reordering this list but you can disable sound devices you don’t use. I only use Windows on other people’s PC’s, so going from memory:

  1. Right-click the speaker icon
  2. Click sound settings
  3. Find manage sound devices
  4. For each device you want to disable, there should be a disable button

The disabled devices will be removed from this menu. To reenable, just go back to manage sound devices.

in reply to nebunez

ofc, didn’t check the replies first 🙂 I see someone else responded with this, too 🤷
