More updates on Jiji's urchin lifestyle. He is a thief, stealing items from my desk, Lego pieces from our builds, and Warhammer figurines while we build them. He's a beautiful majestic menace and we're impotent in stopping his reign of terror.

I find myself wandering the once familiar streets of Nightfall, following the intermittent buzzing of a flickering neon bulb toward what used to be a bustling part of town. After much detouring, dead ends and stepping over debris, I finally reached our ol' kiosk. The dusty shelves laid bare save for a few issues from Rek, Felix and myself.

I wonder where all the people that used to write for this corner have gone, if there isn't a shinier corner with avider readers that called them away, or if maybe writing has done its good work onto them so they didn't feel the need to anymore. Well, I'll hope so, it is now the fifth year since I began writing these bi-monthly pamphlets. After this, there will be one more left to pen this year.

@Gargron A lovely little fellow. It was fun to hang out with them. A pro tip for being in an enclosure with dozens of birds: wear a rain jacket, a leather jacket, something easy to clean, 😀.

A side note, if I may: thank you for your work!

I was going to suggest calling them Danish (pastry) and (cinnamon) Roll to match the DR from The sign.

Hi, Bean! Who's a good girl! Do you come with the bag?

I wrote my first uxntal program! (the code is embarrassing, I don’t know control flow yet ok just how to draw sprites)

Day 12: I wasn't around yesterday to work on anything, let alone write a devlog. Today, I was, but I had lots of little tasks to catch up so nothing really moved forward in any devlog-worthy sense. That being said, I did slip in a tiny improvement to SunflowerBASIC, I completed the implementation of MAKE, which exports the project as a uxn rom(similarly to Flick), which makes BASIC the second game dev engine for Varvara?

Since I didn't have anything graphical to show today, and that I fell in love with @adelfaure's psychedelic pixel font, I've written our great event's name with it.

Day 16: I got thoroughly soaked walking back through the downpour outside, once I had changed into comfy dry clothes and made some tea, I started poking at dzoe's raycaster project and it reminded me of Bellinitte's wonderful Pinhole.

So I started modernizing the code a bit, and added dynamic objects creation. I'd love to bring the primitives I've written for Moogle over to it. That would mean I can do away with the last program I still use that I made in C, and have all the tools I need for the Neauismetica entirely hosted on Uxn.

Day 17: A violent storm tossed us around all night and kept us up, so I'm going kick back today and take it easy.

I did write a tiny bit of code after breakfast to fix a bug that has been nagging me for a while. Ever since I've decided to embrace macros in Uxntal, I never got around to reflect this change in all the tooling, and the optimizer has been complaining about tail-calls with macros eversince. For example, a macro name terminating a function fall, was read as a subroutine, so the optimizer was raising a warning. But, NO MORE!

Lety Does Unboxing the Mastodon Stuffed Toys From Mastodon

Wake up babe, new Plushtodons just dropped, and I'm unboxing them 3 feet from the sidewalk like a fucking jackass. Meet Strawberry and Blueberry! Also this is by far the most anxiety-inducing video I have ever filmed in terms of people driving by and staring at me, and boy do I hope you guys think it's worth it by the end.

I'm not colorblind! I also want to clarify, you asked me what name I gave my plushies. Not all of the plushies! Those are not their colors! The colors are peach and blue. I know it's not precisely blue, but I did not want to use the word blurple.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

Well that's going to be a problem because I've been calling them that for 48 hours now and changing their names at this point will give them an identity crisis

(I'm glad you're not colorblind ❤️)

@neauoire is this the correct way to write POP2kr? I have not seen an example rune with the 3 modes, only

- 2 is " above the rune
- k is , below the rune
- r is o where?

Using the actual unicodes k and r stack down vertically (order not important)
R̥̗̎ R̗̥̎

I think horizontal alignment ,º or º, would be more forgiving to .ufx fonts.

But you are the source of truth here :3
Regards!

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

thank you, I'll try to see if I can make it look nice with pixels for a turye font, if not I'll try to strike through in .uf3

I also wanted to update my profile pic to POP2kr because it represents me right now, "busy doing nothing". 😅

I'm not sure I can create something pretty out of pc strokes (with a mouse), but I'll try to draw it by hand and scan it.

Hope you are having a great day!

in reply to Snufkin

cheers 😀 I like how you have it right now, both modes underneath like that too, you could keep it as is

this looks awesome, I wanted to buy it, but they are asking for 13 EUR for shipping. More than twice as expensive as the pin itself... Why is shipping to Portugal, for a pin, so damn expensive?!

Thinking of merveilles.town/@aartaka/11570… and wondering how decent font sizes should be specified in web pages.

In my in-development site, I've not styled <p> and <h1–6> yet at all, so it's just using the browser's default sizes and spacing. Eventually I might decide to be more opinionated, but how to go about it?

I might have the opposite problem that @aartaka might be thinking of: all the screens I use are low-resolution (currently 1366px wide) so I worry about ultra-high-resolution in particular.

in reply to Andy Alderwick

I prefer when people don't set a size and let my browser defaults handle everything from smaller, small, medium, large, larger.
