George Clooney is an actor.
Put him in the role of a surgeon in front of a camera, and he will do and say things the average non-surgeon viewer will agree are surgeonish. After an hour of that, we are, as average non-surgeon viewers, satisfied and entertained.
Put him in an operating theatre, and the patient will fucking die because he's not a surgeon and knows nothing about really doing surgery.

Looking for other people here who're interested in analog "alt process" photography (especially Kallitype & salt prints in general) and who are also making their own prints. There used to be a few more such people in my TL, but they all seem to have vanished or stopped posting in the past year, and generally it feels there's precious little interest in this topic on Mastodon... (I too have a feeling, either my own photography went drastically downhill over the past 3-4 months or people in my circles are just less and less interested in it, or maybe don't get to see it all... Hello self-doubt! 😩)
Anyhow, if you are interested in these topics, please like or boost so I can follow back! Much appreciated! It's very hard to find peers in such niche topics whilst on a tiny single user instance...
Ps. Also, if not Mastodon, any other communities/forums you might be able to recommend?

@neauoire I haven’t made any Kallitypes but finally have all my materials for argyrotypes. I make a lot of Cyanotypes and silver gelatin prints.
I’m part of a couple discord groups that are alt-process adjacent. Sometimes discuss on Photrio. And there’s a local photography school that collects some good folks near me.
But mostly it’s a pretty lonely endeavor! Would be very excited about growing my own circles.

“Heim 6-timers” survived and 58.25 km accumulated. 66 % type 1 fun, 33 % type 2 fun. ;) Hour five felt hardest, but there was something left in the legs to put down fast five minutes before the end. Pretty happy with how the race went: 27 + 27 + 27 + 25 + 23 + 25 rounds looks nicely distributed effort over such a long time.
Now I got some indication why marathoners feel weird after km 30. ;)
Passed the full marathon distance after 4h 14m 40s 💥.

> There is no Tomorrow [A question from a young mind] They repeatedly say, "Tomorrow, tomorrow." I ask them, "When does it come?" And they reply, "When it dawns, tomorrow comes." I search for the new day myself. When I awake and look around I find no tomorrow. Rather I find the today that has already come. My folks! There is no tomorrow.
I'm going to put this hear, because I don't have a notebook nearby.
Libertarianism is not about social liberty. There's a reason why so many "libertarians" eventually join the Republican Party.
They want the freedom to walk all over other people, without those people having the right to say "no". That's not liberty, that's entitlement. They want to be entitled to do whatever they like to whoever they choose.
This is why I would like to dump words like left, right, conservative, and liberal. We only have people who are for human and environmental rights, and those who are for privilege. Maybe some day we will have people who have different approaches to human and environmental rights who will give themselves names, but right now--this is what we have.

in reply to ⟅ June ⟆ • • •I feel like this is compounded by seeing other people work. It somehow demotivates me, even though I can celebrate their work. They found joy in it. Do I find joy in mine?
Life has punched me in the gut several times in the past three weeks. Some serious shit is about to hit our household, same as ever.. inspiration and joy in work is hard to find when you have this background "hum" of stress, tension and disorganization.
If your mind never fully relaxes, what does joy look like? What does inspiration look like? Is it coupled to the velocity of your life? Will you do things because the stress keeps you moving?
What happens in the quiet moments, when you have time? I have time right now. Some of it, anyway. Why am I not inspired? Why can't I recall what gives me joy, or makes me enthused to create? What is missing?
In moments like these, I feel as unskilled as I have ever been. I feel like my hands and head have lost their memory, because the frantic keyboard mashing was tied to a desire. Desire melds with dreams, and dreams are why we live.
I haven't slept well lately, in every sense.

Your inspiration will return Kiki, you might just need to think about other stuff for a while.
