They are excitedly looking for updates on how our community is convincing politicians to dump U.S. based social media and join the #Fediverse. It's almost like they have a vested interest in your activities and efforts. Hmm....

I have been watching this story simmer for several days. I've been wary of it. It fits too neatly into the criticisms and warnings many of us have been raising. But it's starting to look like, yes, they are using an LLM to make critical decisions.
At the same time I have heard parts of speeches from the US Secretary of War.* I have been dismayed by his shallow thinking. It doesn't help that his speeches also sound like they are also composed by an LLM.

Manet's famous painting Un Bar aux Folies-Bergère never appealed to me. But now I realize its genius, and my spine tingles every time I see it.
The perspective looks all wrong. You're staring straight at this barmaid, but her reflection in the mirror is way off to right. Even worse, her reflection is facing a guy who doesn't appear in the main view!
But in 2000, a researcher showed this perspective is actually possible!!! To prove it, he did a photographic reconstruction of this scene. Check it out in my next post.
This blows my mind.

I think my Toki Pona book is on the same shelf as my Oberon book.
I was an Oberon fan/user back in the v2 and v4 days. I remember reading some code from the University of Linz that was in German and it was the first time I realized that programming didn't need to be in English, that there was really no reason it couldn't be in someone's native language as long as there was a character set for it. I think Oberon had always been at least Latin-1, and at the time I heard through the grapevine that there were Russian variants, probably lost to time now.
Then, stubbing my toe on Plan 9 and Unicode.
And now, I have to admit, wondering what tal would look like mapped to Maya script. 😂 But the Toki Pona rabbit hole will do for now.
