That sounds quite interesting, indeed. My kids need a new PC. Perfect testing ground, as soon as I can free up the money for the hardware.

Ireland’s President Connolly:

"What we have witnessed in recent days in the Middle East, and beyond, are not political disputes.

"They are deliberate assaults on international law, the international laws that have underpinned global peace for 80 years.

"We must name them as such, without euphemism and without equivocation."

The decision to rely on a US provider for sovereign defence work is something that unsettles many analysts, according to the one who spoke to Crikey: “Do you think the US is going to give a shit about Australia if we need them? If war comes to us, Palantir is going to choose their own soil. We haven’t enabled any development of sovereign capability at all.”

A Palantir spokesperson said that services under this contract are governed by Australian law. Palantir did not answer questions as to whether it is governed by US law. The Department of Defence did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Palantir also provides services to do with Australian incarceration of Refugees, and is in control of security at Coles, one of Australia's largest supermarket chains. KICK THEM OUT OF AUSTRALIA!

Trump Looks Increasingly Desperate to Restrict Voting Rights

Mother Jones 2026-03-08

Donald Trump threatened on Sunday to withhold his signature from all bills until Congress passes a GOP-led voting bill that implements voter restrictions ahead of the November midterms.

“I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY, TRAVEL,” Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Be sure to mention that human rights must be assured to people of any gender or sex.

Liquid Glass for Everyone!!! How about a few non-Ai "features"?

Like working on that buried bookmark manager? Sure would be nice to develop that into an online research tool. Zotero style?

Maybe some RSS and Podcast notifications when you land on a site containing them? How about cleaning up the settings & preferences?

Catacomb's latest 1.3.0 release fixes an interesting issue:

Apparently on the PinePhone (Pro) when disabling `eg25-manager`, libinput generates a bunch of `XF86WakeUp` press/release events, ultimately ending up with the key permanently pressed. Since Catacomb supports multi-key bindings, it wouldn't trigger bindings anymore, since it only looked at the ones with `XF86WakeUp` active.

An 800-watt unit that costs $1,099 is capable of powering a fridge or a few small appliances for a sunny fraction of the day. That’s enough power to reduce bills for a New York household by $279 per year on average. canarymedia.com/articles/solar…

Simple audio on Linux is indeed quite a bit better than it once was. However, compared to complex audio-handling on a Macintosh (let alone the top-notch apps available for the Mac, it still hasn't left the jungle. This is its Achilles heel.

in reply to max22-

@maxime_andre !!! I just learned how to write many pixels to the screen at once, I didn't see it in the arduino manual, but this makes it all A LOT faster.

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

nice ! btw if you want to have exactly 60 fps, you can use micros() to get the time since boot in microseconds, + delayMicroseconds, and calculate how much time you need to delay
in reply to max22-

@maxime_andre I came across this searching for micros's API, and it spooked me.
forum.arduino.cc/t/why-is-micr…
in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

they are using an arduino nano, maybe that's why it's slower. on the esp32, micros just calls esp_timer_get_time.
"This function is fast and has no locking mechanisms that could potentially introduce delays or conflicts. As a result, it can be useful for fine-grained timing, with the accuracy of 1 μs, in tasks as well as in ISR routines."

@maxime_andre oh!

in reply to max22-

@maxime_andre M5.Lcd.pushColors(row, w, true); le true permet de garder l'addresse en memoire mais en fin de compte j'avais mal compris la docs.

Something I really like is reading articles through my RSS feed reader (I use News from @nextcloud ). #RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is still just a brilliant old bit of tech that lets you find and read what you want, without obnoxious algorithms or questionable web design getting in the way.

Some time ago, Cory Doctorow @pluralistic gave some great tips how to use RSS: doctorow.medium.com/you-should…

nice! And thanks for sharing the article – we'll give it a read 😉

in reply to It's FOSS

this is a bit hyperbolic. I'm pretty sure veterans who risk life and limb don't feel any solidarity with open source devs who deal with assholes on the Internet. I also don't believe most open source devs feel they must sacrifice themselves for society - that seems a bit unhealthy.

I have been watching this story simmer for several days. I've been wary of it. It fits too neatly into the criticisms and warnings many of us have been raising. But it's starting to look like, yes, they are using an LLM to make critical decisions.

At the same time I have heard parts of speeches from the US Secretary of War.* I have been dismayed by his shallow thinking. It doesn't help that his speeches also sound like they are also composed by an LLM.
