I took the green pill in 2017 when pondering the Twittermarix

Good on you, Australia Post, sending a parcel from Oakleigh South to Mount Waverley via Sunshine West.
in reply to Deborah Pickett (inactive)

They're good at this sort of thing. There's two main AustPost sorting facilities in Brisbane: Redbank and Pinkenba; and on several occasions I've had parcels travel back and forth between them several times before eventually going to my local LPO.

Livestreaming people!

Do you want people on Mastodon to be able to follow your livestream and be notified when you go live?

There's a free open source streaming platform called @owncast which is also part of the Fediverse:

➡️ owncast.online

You can follow OwnCast streams from Mastodon, and a post will appear in your timeline when they go live.

For example you can follow music accounts like @live or tech & gaming streamers like @Hamish or @hatnix

#Fediverse #ActivityPub #OwnCast

Please clap.

I downloaded my content before it became more difficult, and closed my account yesterday.

A summer intern I hired and trained just got their first "real job" as a lab tech!

She took "clean computer" into another level, while it's cute, I will be so sad for my laptop 😂

Hello all! I have newly arrived from the wilds of Twitter and am trying to find my people. I am a reporter and I post about #journalism #texas #deathpenalty and the shitshows that are #prisons.

And sometimes I pose in cemeteries in front of hearses.

Wait, are #mastodon lists public? 😰 I'm seeing a very worrying thing about them being used for harassment, but the documentation is scant on access levels (docs.joinmastodon.org/user/net…). I thought I was just organizing a few accounts into new UI columns for myself (e.g., "Blogs" for federated blogs, "Videos" for peertube channels). Super shitty if lists are public and that's not documented.
in reply to brennen

@brennen Yeah, I'm wondering if folks were talking about this kind of list, but the variety that are made without consent: communitywiki.org/trunk
in reply to Melissa Avery-Weir

yeah, possible.

in practice i think mastodon's builtin list feature doesn't get a ton of use mostly because a) you can't put people on a list without following them, and b) the interface is just kind of clunky.

anyway i can't find any way to see someone else's lists and the source kind of makes it look to me like you have to be logged in to get at 'em, but i guess take that with a grain of salt (i'm not a rails person):

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm happy to inform you that I will start my CS class in Nov 10

:blobcatadorablepinkpat:
Aquí mi perfil es #CeroPolítica.
Creo que ya estamos hartos de eso.
¡Solo le faltan más personas para crecer!

#Introduction. Hello fediverse 👋, I'm new here. I work on #peatlands as part of a fab team of scientists at James Hutton Institute in Scotland (UK): I study their bugs, beasties and plants, their #greenhousegas emissions, how to monitor their health (condition) using #remotesensing and how to get the best out of #restoration efforts. Here's a photo of one of our pre-restoration sites, monitored using #eddycovariance for GHG fluxes and various #hydrology pieces of kit.

TechRadar: Barely anyone is using Windows 11 still.
techradar.com/news/barely-anyo…

Lol, it won't even run in a VM.

in reply to I'm Jack 🐦‍⬛

I'm running 11 on supported hardware, it is a pain in the ass, taskbar - problems, icons - problems, hangs after few days of use without bsod - sure you bet 😀 thinking about going back to 10, or even linux, but I use photo programs that uses AI for workflow, and I don't know how linux will respond to them, my GPU is RX590, so as AMD it should work, but even in windows it still has problems being strange upgrade in lower nm to rx580... must gather strength to try linux

currently brewing tea...

searching for the correct term for the kind of tea i bought, i discovered that some people apparently make far finer distinctions than just "bulk" or "bagged"

in reply to Thorwegian ❄️

I'm also into teas, now have a reserve of pu-erh (good pu-erh saves you money, it can be used of up to 7 times (the same tea serving))

My webinator surfboard found this delightful video documentary (and it's a big project) from Australia, courtesy of @cogdog Big Stories from Small Towns.

Uplifting. Fascinating. For those of us from far, far away, an illuminating view.

(I'd show you a pic of what it looks like but things are kind of slow here.)

I am helping teachers to be capable of teaching nuance to primary and secondary students, because it's a part of digital safety. Key to this is recognising when overly broad statements are being made, and to not automatically accept things as true without checking reliable sources. This article is a brilliant example of teaching nuance (to adults, but good to get the teachers thinking)!

How green are our laptops compared to paper?

As if I needed more reasons to brag about my DNS blacklist or that I search using my personal Searx instance.
in reply to Brodie Robertson

I'm surprised they allow ads to be that misleading. I would have thought they would have some sort of filter that flags, if not outright bans unicode domains with characters that look like english ones. Hopefully not too many people were affected.
